Default Changing .dds files

Hi guys,

I'm trying to change the colour of the crosslines for both persicopes and TBT.
Because at night you can not align the horizontal crossline at the waterline of a ship because it's black, and so is the sea and so is the ship's hull...
I started with the TBT.
I have got some experience with photoshop and i've read that you can open .dds-files with photoshop (if you download and install some plug-in for Photoshop, which i did).
So i changed the color of the crossline from black to pink-red (same color as the night filter).

In the game i can see the difference, but the "glass" of the TBT is black now instead of transparent.
What should i do to keep it transparent?
I got this pop-upscreen when i saved this file, there were a whole lot of option fields which i could check or uncheck. (about mip-maps and stuff like that)
Probably this had something to do with it? :hmm:

Thanks,
fvd

I'm not familiar with the PhotoSHop plugin, but in my messing about with .dds files, you need to be sure to re-save the file alpha channel information and in either DXT1 or DXT5 encoding. Sounds like you may have issues with the alpha channel... :hmm:

VERY useful app for loading/saving .dds images: http://www.mnwright.btinternet.co.uk/
Go to the bottom of the page and use the download link. I use it in conjunction with the Gimp to work on SH4 textures and maps. Works great!

Cheers!

DeepIron,

Thanks for the advice!
I was thinking this was the problem.
But i did'nt exactly know which option i had to choose for this "Alpha thing" when saving the file, now i do.
Thanks again!
