thanks for all your help the other day, and putting up with a bilge rat picking your brains!!
p.s the escorts and warships are a little better at detecting me now, whats the best tactic for evading depth charges in a sub that doesnt yet have Bold equipped
seem to be dying a lot at the bottom of the col dark atlantic now!!
run silent and run deep
that means below 2 kts and below 200 meters

whats the crush depth of a type VII B
thought 200metres was a little risky, and also what if depth below keel is only 75 to 100 metres

the crush depth is somewhere around 260 meters with an undamaged hull
and if you only have 75-100 meters below the keel ?
well pray for an unexperienced DD crew then:rotfl:

You have to start to think like a uboat Kpt
Is a shallow water attack worth it ?
Do I have an escape route
How many escorts are there

There are a few good tactics written throughout the forums
Brags site has a few too

Tis a big step up from stock

Glad you are enjoying the GWXperience

Sink em all

Although my crew is always nervous, when des boss dives down to 210, this is my standard depth to evade the DDs. If this can not be achieved, I think about the option to leave on torp in tube ready for "self defense" ()... and at that point my crew gets REALY nervous.
You can always blast yourself your egress corrridor though the escorts.
It just costs you for tonnage and BDU might call this an unnecessary risk

I've heard the whispers of my crew threatening to load me into a tube and shooting me out as a decoy when i take them below 200 meters. But i never have to pay for a drink once we get back in port in 1 piece

see, what you do there, is, put your uniform on Bernard. your crew'll then think he's you and send him out as a decoy

just glad there are modders out there with the ability to recognise the potential of this great game, then have the passion to create such a submersive (no pun intended) simulation of such an under used genre of WWII. the time and effort are obvious. the thanx the other day to you guys was more for the help and time you all gave without what i expected would be "tut tuts" and mutch rolling of the eyes at a newb!!!
cheers
