Default SH4 or expansion pack??

Hello folks, s'me again.

I have recently upgraded someone's computer, for which service I don't usually charge, but this guy insisted that a lump of cheese and a bottle of plonk wasn't enough, so I said, Ok, there's this game I have been longing to buy, but it costs too much money for me... so he gave me £20.00 as well. Whoopee!

I rushed over to Amazon.co.uk with me munney in me hot little hand, figuratively speaking, to buy, what else but SH4. However.... looking at the reviews, I am wondering if it is such a good buy. "Full of bugs..." "patch doesn't solve the issue..." "not well written..." "rubbish compared to SH3..." oo-er...

What say you? Should I buy it? My system is quite good so that ought not to be the problem, but if it is as bad as some suggest... hmmm, would I be wasting my cash?

If I did not buy that, is there any thing I can add-on to SH3 which will not conflict with GWX - I am not taking that off, not no-how for nobody!!

Default why not

stock game was very buggy. but with patches its quite playable and visually quite a treat. add in the mods that are available and in the works and you really begin to get a great game. plus with the rumors of an add on, it could bump sh3 off your hard drive.

Hi SheWolf Long Time No See

SH-3 wasn't all that great before GWX and other Super mods either.

With SH-4 you now also have Super mods like TM 1.6 and recently released RSRD. " I hope I haven't forgotten anybody "

With the 1.3 patch and all the forum members fixs and mods SH-4 has finally turned into a great Sub Sim that is an alternative to the Battle in the Atlantic.

Another patch is " maybe, might, could be,possibly gonna come out soon.:p

SH-4 is still in it's infancy and IMHO the surface has barely been scratched on what can and will be done with this game.

Hope to hear you get it .

BTW Don't be such a stranger, talk to ya later Bye

why does 4 have to be better than 3 ?

or 3 better than 4 ?
sh3 is an exceptionally great sim: i will say a classic. the gwx team have ensured that. ( don't forget the next gwx installement too. )

and, i'm sure , with time, sh4 will go the same way.

then, guess what? you'll have two exceptional sims on your comp.
these sims take years of hours to complete and polish to the height of sh3.

give sh4 time. take another look at it a year from now - see the improvements. if you dont like it yet, put it away for a while, and try getting through the english channel !!!!

and what about a RUSSIAN sub sim, full of under water ice, the language and music and all the sound effects and enviroments that could bring; like a sub war in the arctic, breaking through the ice sheets - wow !! EXTERNAL CAMERA'S PLEASE !!

Well, In my case; Some times i have those "SH3-Days", and some times i have those "SH4-Days".. Its almost like having a good lookin' wife, and also a good lookin' mistress... Some days she's hot, sometimes not.... What im meaning to say; It's good to have both SH3 & SH4 IMHO....

I goddit! Should be here in a couple of days..wooh! Then I shall be torn on which one to give my evening to.

Seth dear heart, ..made me go all pink, all this bawdy talk! didn't know where to look..but I know what you mean.. I think...:rotfl:

Firewall, well thank ee kindly

flag4, very sound and sensible advice I think, yes...

one thing, quite seriously, as a Brit, I always feel a wee bit of a traitor and am a little embarrassed when I am taking a pop at 'one of ours' especially if best beloved is sitting next to me working at his computer. SH4 will not give me that problem will it. War is horrible and good men are lost on all sides, but having to be 'the enemy' is not a comfortable role for anyone I think, whatever nationality. It is not so bad that I would give up playing SH3 mind!

It was one of those (many) things that attracted me to SH3: an opportunity to play as your former enemy; feel how it was on their side. Just like playing as RedArmy soldier in Call of Duty 1-2. It's interesting

hello KKF. If I have to pay to enhance the game, that will be ok. There are so few games around worth playing (imo), when we get a goodun, its worth it! (ooh, I sound like one of those shampoo ads on tele .....because your WORTH it!)

I have one slight problem with Seth's comparison: SH3 won't kill you, or make your life hell, if it catches you playing SH4.
