Default Terminator will be back in 2009

Finially - maybe we will get the future war for once now! Been waiting for a Terminator that shows what happens 'after' the war.

Quote:
Shooting will begin in 2008 on Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins, which promises to "reinvent the cyborg saga with a storyline to be told over a three-pic span".

Production company Halcyon is keen to stress that the movie will indeed be a "reinvention", as executive producer Moritz Borman told Variety: "The third film was really the conclusion of what happened in the 'now'. You will find the most-loved characters, but the intention here is to present a fresh new world and have this be the first of a trilogy."

Halcyon co-CEO Derek Anderson teased: "This is set in the future, in a full-scale war between Skynet and humankind."

Terminator 3 writers John Brancato and Michael Ferris have already completed the Terminator Salvation screenplay, and Charlie's Angels director McG is hotly tipped to take the helm. The film is slated for a summer 2009 release.

Regarding the possible participation of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Borman said: "We've left it open for him to maybe do a cameo. He has an important job, as we know, and the final decision will be based on his desire and availability, along with what the director wants."

Is Arnie in shape to do another Terminator? Quite frankly the Terminator was his roll. Almost too perfect with his accent.

Like the post says, they are thinking to give him cameo role, not the lead part.

Thats my fear Dowly, Arnie made the roll and made the Terminator. It would just not be the same for me. You said you loved the first movie and so did I. Arnie just made the movie great and made a cyborg type character very convincing. I will find it hard to like the movie if there is some sort of strange stand-in for Arnie.

i get the feeling we might be in for something more along the lines of the re-invented Battlestar Galactica.. humanity battling the robots sort of thing...they surely can't pull that cyborg sent into the past stunt again...another 3 times??

more like the story of the "resistance" surely..sounds good

hope this re-invention concept carries on for a decent time...they certainly made a worthy job of BG...very watchable...and intrigueing...(watched the entire available series at least three times now..and i STILL don't know what's REALLY going on lol!) which is what makes it worth the while..certainly the most surreal use of "all along the watchtower" in a series we're likey to see for a while:hmm:

give us the
"Day of the Triffids"
"war of the Worlds"
"invasion of the body snatchers"
etc etc as well....half decent tellivision is hard to come by these days...so much so that i rarely turn it on anymore..just rewatch one of the series on DVD

the 4400 is pretty watchable
plus
"space above and beyond"
"threshold"
"x files"
"Taken"
even
"invasion"
"surface"
"the lone Gunmen"
"carnivale"

and now
"heroes" (i suppose)

not too mention all the Star Trek stuff knocking around

havent gotten round to Lost and 24 as yet

all of it beats watching the drivel on telly these days...
so i cook the tea ..slap on a dvd and that's me for the evening..
i don't need Sky to create my own TV channell lol! and absolutely NO adverts!!

keep it coming guys..the more the merrier

ye gawds i almost forgot..i'm not going to tell you how many times i've watched Babylon 5 lol...i can hardly believe it myself...and if i get bored i just watch them all in reverse order lol..start at the last episode and work backwards ..
then you got all the more factual stuff...
the great war (fascinating)
world at war
band of brothers
and of course this being subsim.com das boot etc..

who needs normal telli-vison...sports and the news..that's about it..

First one was good after that the series went on the slippery down slope to doom.

I disagree. The first was a good teaser for what was to come. #2 is still my fav. #3 is pretty good too.

Liquid metal is a scientific possibility too by the way, with nano technology. It's a logical progression in technology and will probably be working by 2015 to 2020. Complexity will be about the same as building a 747. I could see how you would not like the other two if you didn't understand where technology is progressing, but nano technology will be a reality. It will screw up the world with it though since it will cost pennies on the dollar to make anything, no matter how complex as long as you have software. The global economy will collapse because of it.

I think they should have left it end with the second one. I liked the third as an action movie, but was disappointed with it as a Terminator sequal. I think the way to end the Terminator series would be to show the Terminator being sent back in time to kill Sarah.

The first one was the best for sure. It's pretty hard for film sequals to outshine the first movie.
One exception that springs to mind is possibly the second Aliens movie :hmm:

The second one was Cert15 here meaning you had to be 15 years of age and above to see the film so it was bound to be not as good as the first one which was Cert18. As for the third I passed up on that one until it hit the TV, I was wise not to waste £10 on that one.

As for the possible new ones I have grave feelings they will panda to the SFX fan club and no real story line. As the old story goes the proof is in the pudding.
