Hope this helps.

1) The Navigation map can be expanded to cover the entire pacific plus. The Attack map will show torpedo plots and track them once fires; depending on the realism setting and mods, it will also show ship silhouettes and where your own TDC clculation places the targetted ship.

2) The observation periscope is a wide angle tool, where the attack periscope is linked to the TDC, etc.

3) Do not think you can change whilst in mid patrol, becuase after setting the realism myself and then installing some mods I found that the realism setting had been altered and I cannot seem to change it back whilst on patrol. Hopefully, one can do that whilst back at the office. (asking that question on another thread myself).

As I said hope it helps.

Hi,

1) The attack map does not let you set waypoints, the nav. map however lets you do so as well as change them. The attack map is more accurate towards your immediate surroundings, also you may track the status of your torpedoes as well as set depth settings, det. means, etc on this map.

2) The attack periscope is a smaller periscope, thus harder to see. This periscope also has a greater magnification setting and helps you set up your attacks. The Observation periscope however is larger, thus easier to see. However, this size has the benefit of a wider field of view, as well as the ability to angle itself at a higher degree, thus giving you the capability of observing (hence the name..) the skies.

3) Changing the Realism Settings in mid-patrol is impossible, however in mid-career, albeit only whilst you are in the office refitting for the next patrol.

Hope this helps!

Hi Guys

Thanks for all your replies clearing up the differences for me. Very interesting to get in-depth information rather than just relying on the "manual" that comes with the game.

I'll start a new career since I had only just begun the last one anyway.

BTW I've been browsing these forums for all sorts of other bits of info and I was thinking that the amount of information some people seem to know makes me wonder if some of you were actually there at the time. Am I right? Was anyone on these forums actually involved with subs at the time? Pretty cool if it's true.

Thanks!
