Default Anyone interested in SH4 machinima?

Hello,

Let me introduce myself first. My name's Stefan aka SimmerALPHA/Simmer1989. I just learned of SH4 and what a great game it is. I don't have it yet as my computer doesn't run it but I'll get it as soon as I upgrade my PC.

Surfing around on YouTube I spotted some great SH4 videos made by people who also attend this site. I didn't know it was possible to make such good machinima (movies made with games) with SH4. It obviously has great graphics and some great moviemaking possibilities (free camera). So I started thinking how cool it would be to make a machinima movie or series about a US sub in the Pacific during WWII with SH4. Submarine movies/series are a very rare thing in machinima/conventional movies or series. And they always seem to be about U-Boats. I think the Pacific theatre was just as interesting if not more than the Atlantic.

I've been watching these forums for a while and the I think a lot of people would like this idea. Most of you are real sub nuts and I could definately use your help (if anyone is interested).

I might not own SH4 (yet) but the game has inspired me to read more about US subs during WWII. Those men where real heroes and it's a shame their role is so obscure (didn't know anything about the role of US subs in the Pacific theatre). So I chose the USS Tautog (SS-199) as the subject of my proposed series. Of all the subs it has one of the most varied service records I've ever seen. It transported agents, sank the highest number of ships (26!), was in Pearl Harbor at the time of the attack, participated in a simulated war patrol with another sub and much more. Variety is key in a series and the Tautog provides it. It's probably impossible to make it completly realistic so I'm basing the events in the series on the real thing but will obviously have to change some things to make it more thrilling or possible (SH4 won't do everything).

The main character will be the captain. I don't know if it's possible to see the captain as a model. If not I think I'll write it so that we see it through his eyes.

I hope you all like the idea and that a lot of you will want to help make this machinima series come true.

I eagerly await your responses (obviously)

P.S.: I'm posting this on the UBiSH4 forums as well.

Movies are always made for others to can experience what they are missing out on.
And believe me, if I had a PC that was powerful enough to run it, I'd be playing it right now. Alass €750 doesn't fall out the sky to often.

You should check out some of the movies Stabiz made, they are located first post in the ROW Thread: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=122408
Very well done ^^^.

Also, how will you do this if you cannot run SH4 now on your computer?

Welcome to SUBSIM by the way.

So, let me understand this; you don't have a computer to run SH4 on yet you want to start a machinima project that would obviously require one?

Nothing wrong with 'dreaming' and planning ahead.

I hope the OP does get a system capable and joins us in all the fun.
