) will probably run slower when the cops aren't right on his tail - probably keeping things safe hi a slow speed pursuit!

Of they could just rip the thing off and toss it away, or better yet maybe reattach it to another car.

In england we have number plate recognition systems in most police cars it will register on un marked cars and they can follow you without the criminal even knowing because to them your just a normal driver.
