That's cool. in those Sun1, Sun2, etc, there is a scaling, do smaller numbers make it smaller? If all those were changed, would that do the trick?

Sorry, total scene/camera noob here.

I actually guestimate the time in RL by the sun, and quite accurately, usually within 10-20 minutes. Near sunset it gets far more accurate, since I know what a sun diameter is. So I'm really used to paying attention to the sun and moon.

Default okay what I did is this in the scene file

I first adjusted the sun and moon to match in size.

Then I made it so they are shown full size when they are at horizon level until 15 deg up from it. Then as they do their orbital path I set them up to slowly reduce in size and then start to come back to full normal size as they are comming back down again to make that illusional effect of size change we experience in real life watching sun set to sun rise and moon set to rise.

But the camera is an issue to a point for example if you have the fallow cam running and then angle it to the right or left the moon and sun become oblong instead of round but at a head on view they are perfectly round.

But if you change the angular angle of the settings in the camera file it will make the sun and moon appear a differn't size even though they are not changing size adjusting that. Kind of like zooming in on them effect

I want them the same size all the time (horizon or zenith) and grossly smaller, is there an easy fix for me to mess with? What about the radius? That's the distance of the fake objects from the observer, right? The stars are at 1000 or somethign like that, and the sun/moon were like 970/975, can i make them 2000 or so, and see how they look, or does that actually control their movemnt on the sky (in which case changing them throws off the sunrise/sunset)?

Default tater you want them larger?

than they are at the horizon level? But if you want them to always be the same size in the orbital path then you have to adjust all 13 Sky settings for the sun's relative size to 1.

1 means they match the size you set in the sky object Radius.

See when I set up the mod I tryed to simulate everything we visualy percieve with our eyes from actual to illusional with the naked eye and no measuring instriments being used on them. If you want actual then you need the scene file from the Real navigation mod and then apply all of my other settings for the reflections and the ocean and the lightning and so on and so forht to it to get the rest of the mod effect's that don't touch those things in there. MAV87 set up his scene file so it could be used for real navigation using measuring tools like a sexton I didn't.

Ah, cool. Then I can mod the radius values to make them smaller, test, etc. If I can remember the tick spacing on the periscope I'm gold. Adjust sun til it is 1/2 degree or so (anything close, I'm not going to navigate with it ).

If 1 is the same, then .1 is a lot smaller? 10%? Cause I can guess right away then and try scaling.

Default tater just remember the scopes are camera views

and will change the size appearence from inside of those views to the other camera views so not an easy task to always have them the same size. Again to achieve what you want I sugest you use the MAV87 mod as he set up the camera and scene file to already do this for you.

The scene file can be delicate at times and can be destroyed and have to start all over again I know I have done this many times. Mini tweeker is set up in a way where a value being changed too much can actualy change another part of the Hex editing for a differnt setting entirly where it can not be easily repaired.

Ah, I see. A value of .2 is actually still too big, but a lot closer. 0.1-something is probably perfectly accurate. As I said, it needn't be spot on for me, but a 3-4 degree sun looks like I'm watching the world through a telephoto lens to me.

So 0.2 looked OK, but I don't want to mess with anything except the sun/moon size in ROW, it's just too great.

Seriously stunning.

Won't the mav87th mod not be compatible?

Default no it isn't compatable

But you can add the settings from my scene file to it just don't mess with the size of anything in any way in both the camera settings and the scene settings.

Mav's mod doesn;t change the sun/moon size at all. It was wrong in the stock game (way way too big). Least the Camera Mod 1.2 I have:

Code:
 Lines changed in Scene.dat are:

Air, Air Fog, Camera, LOD
LodFactor - set to 2 from 1

Fog 1 (no fog)
ObjectsRelativeZmin 0.8 from 0

Added
Horizon
Zmax=3000 (stock value is 1000 even when the line is not there)
I need to change the 13 sky values cause I want the sun to always be the same angular size (it is in RL), and I want it to be very much smaller than it is in stock.

Sorry to hijack your thread with all this, I'd PM but my damn box is at like 98 posts, and I need to copy all the useful stuff out at this point before I can delete anything, lol.

If I get it all figured out, I can make it as an option for folks.

tater

PS--I'm anxious to get it the way I want it cause this is another "never turn it off" mod like LOB.

Default LOD factor is level of detail

and that can slow a PC down faster than the power going off if set too high. I personaly have my LOD at 5 in the scene file for my own game.

This one heck of a mod.Nice job Guys!

2 Questions though.I'm getting a lot of banding of sky colors which I'm not seeing in the screenshots(really fantastic looking)so either I missed something or my ATI 850X is showing its age.

Also is there a way to get a closer view with the camera(as in always set at about 100M from your Sub or Target)Like the Triger Maru Camera File.

Default boatfull thanks for the compliment but

can you post a pic of what your talking about please for banding?

And with this camera mod you can walk the decks of every ship in the game so that is very close.
