Yeah, but the only reason why DirectX10 does not work with XP is M$ wants to force everybody to take Vista. Therefore they will not bring DirectX4XP.Thanks to BillyBoy

About SH5: i think that it can be, because what other games Ubisoft Romania are doing? As far as i know its Chessmaster and Blazing Angels series and there were sequels to both of those released lately. Besides - Silent Hunter is the biggest title from this studio, i doubt they will let it go.

If I understand it correctly, Microsoft also "acquired" the rights to OpenGL. Originally MS indicated DX10 would not be possible outside of Vista due to virtual machine constraints unavailable in the XP operating system. Then, it was reported, they made certain concessions allegedly because of Nvidia's inability to meet certain DX10 requirements, thus the door was opened for 3rd party programmers to devise an XP compatible rendition of DX10. Either way, DX or OpenGL, MS is in the driver's seat and any decision will most certainly be to the advantage of the corporation's ledger. I would be surprised if they adopted a position that did not require the adoption of Vista to receive the supposed benefit offered by DX10.

I think, realistically, if Ubisoft were to think about releasing another SH ie SH5 then it would be one of three options:
a. A return to the Atlantic U boat war with SH4 like graphics and maybe a few other gameplay improvements but basically an updated SH3. b. A return to the Atlantic or the Pacific but with the emphasis on allied or Japanese subs. c. A totally new period either Cold War, Modern or World War 1. I think that options a and c are the most realistic. Personally I think that Ubisoft/developers will be looking towards making a break with the past SH games so I think that opion c will be most likely to be done and probably with WW1 as the setting. But this may all be moot. The primary motivating factor for Ubisoft will always be if the balance of money invested to profits is a favourable one. So if you want SH5 tell all your friends to buy SH3 and SH4 and you will get SH5.

i would like to see "c", but set about the time of the Berlin Crisis that went "bad". there'ld still be diesel/electric boats and very few SSN/SSBN, which would be available as the war progressed but technologically relevant for the mid-late 50s
