Thanks for the quick response. Back to the saves real quick. I finished my first patrol last night and saved right before I got the option to return to Kiel. Does the game auto save when you choose the return to port option? I think I messed up and and shut the game down after I returned to base and handed out awards so I may have to reload my last few km's and do that part over.

IIRC, you have two "saves" when in port. When you first return, the game makes a save "after mission" or "after patrol X". Then when you make changes, such as upgrading your U-boat, giving awards, etc., it makes another save "before mission" or "before patrol X+1". You don't need to worry about a manual save unless you're actually on a patrol / out of the office.

Just to add to whats been said so far ...... save a few times during a patrol ... be on the surface and at normal speed ... make a save ( be sure to hit the enter key after typing what to call it ) and then click the save word .............. I generally save about 3 to 4 times during a patrol .... I name them like " got two " ... " convoy " .... " iamborded " .... " homeward " ..............

When you load up the game again you'll see the saves you named and can start from there if you so desire ( but you lose anything afterward ) .......

Reason I always save ... its a bummer to have an almost perfect patrol and I am so proud of my crew .... then the power company decides its time to work on the power lines and cuts it off
