Help removing a trojan

Maybe but I did get an annoying pop up directing me to a security site as indicated by symantec, but none of the files it is supposed to leave are there.

I am pretty good at moving around the registry and my system so I know I would have seen them.

How about installing something as a temporary alternative eg: Nod32 and let that scan your system to see if it detects it ? :hmm:

Symantec did not scan and isolate the trojan? Usually Symantec will catch these as they enter you computer, isolate and dump.

If you need to look at it with an alternate scanner - you can use Trend Micro's Housecall to scan it. It is a free scan and you don't have to install a 2nd virus scanner to have it take a look:

I'm downloading the full working trial version of AVG, lasts only 30 days but should be enough.

This is a great tool but the downside can be the length of time it takes especially if, like me, you have a load of junk on your Computer.
Recommend you set it off then go in a corner and do a 1000 piece jigsaw.

Thats true - takes a bit. You can still use your system though while its going. Also, his program already should tell him where he needs to scan - just an idea. Any virus scanner - except maybe NOD32, takes forever. Norton AV takes even longer!
