Glad to see my post was well recieved.

I too would like to see a RTB option (as stated above) however I think I would only use it in times of despair, such as having my engines wrecked, or the rudder falls off.

I would go with this as well. Just some small things to make life inside a bit more involved.

Other than that, the game is good IMHO.

i'ld have to say ditto as i just got SHIII and i think it'll be a bit more immersive in that respect than IV currently is . also, if IV is based on IIIs game engine, why can't these things be added?

The US silent service actually suffered a casualty rate higher than any branch of any of the Allied services during the war. Food for thought.

Anyways, if I wanted something I'd want a crew that can see. I can see huge ships lumbering on the horizon, and even during the pitch dark of night they can see me (and direct well aimed fire!) on me, before my crew can even see them.

Okay the Japanese were well known for their spotters, but a relatively small sub vs a big merchant vessel? It's just so ridiculous because you can see them yourself easily. Taken damage so many times it's ridiculous.

Just remembered some more:

Damage control- I liked the way SH3 handled it better. The time estimates on repairs was a definite plus.

Medals- Medals were easy to figure out in SH3. Most either improved the performance of the sailor or increased his stamina. The best medal basically made him into a robot, able to do his job indefinitely. Its very, very vague on what exactly medals do in SH4.

The interface

I just can't get used to it. I try again after each patch and interesting Mod release but end up uninstalling. Maybe to many hours with SH3 and GWX.

Tater made a mod that fixes all the Japanese radars that were improperly detecting stuff on the surface. It's also included in TM along with Ducimus' adjustment for better crew sighting. I can still see them from far far away before the crew does but they're much better than the stock game.

RDP

Don't get me wrong. I really like what the modders have done for the game so far, and it's only been a few months. SHIV wouldn't be as great as it was without the modders, and all their fine work. I don't have the time, energy, or dedication to do it, but if a team like those who did GWX would get together, give it a couple of years, and I think they could make this game very impressive.

Stability

Getting a bit annoyed about that "click the bridge icon to-see-your-desktop". Haven't had nearly as many CTD's with SH3 as I've had with SH4

I recently installed the latest vid drivers for my card (might be a beta) and it seems to have helped the few lockups I was getting in exterior/bridge views when a lot of ships were nearby.
