Working for the local cable company in Arizona I feel your pain....as of July 2007..

http://abclocal.go.com/ktrk/story?se...n13&id=5464508

I agree with the governement though in that it needs to force or at least coerce?...the cable companys and the manufacturers of equipment...cable boxes, dvds, vcr's etc etc to get on the same page at the very least.

HDMI is not even a supported format by Scientific-Atlanta which is who my company buys they're cable boxes from...so when customers purchase $100 hdmi cables and come home, plug them in they take a 50/50 chance of it not working all togther or having some sort of issue...

If and I say "IF" the manufacturers can all agree on the technology to use and stick to strict guidelines in regards to "Quality" then I won't see any problem using any manufacturers equipment but as it stands now ...it seems to be a cluster @#$!@#....bout all I have to say.
