just a thank you

Hello all, I am new to the forums. I just wanted to thank all you folks who created mods, training and links for us who are not familar with manual tdc, etc... For myself, I am still confused about Manual Targeting. I still havent figured out how to do it on SHIII yet which I think I like better so far. Is it better to play at normal time compression or speeding things up.

Welcome ktrboston

TC is all about personal preference, I use it a lot because of time restrictions playing the game I wish I could play longer, but can't, so my game settings are set according to this.

There are some great guides here, you mentioned checking out a few. Probably your best guide will be asking questions here, lots of folks will respond, try to help. As well the search function can be your friend.

Anyway, have fun with SH4, it is a good one.

thanks! I have watched some video on manual targeting and tried it myself thru sub school but I kept missing badly. I guess thats why I joined the AF instead. I'll get it sooner or later. Like you RDP I also do not have enough time so tc is my friend. As far as the missions go, does home base tell ya to come back or do you get different orders. I was on my 4th mission to Caroline Islands and was suppose to engage merchant shipping but instead I ran into a convoy. Took out 2 tankers, 1 cargo and 1 destroyer. It was hard to get a fix choppy seas, so auto took a little longer. Anyways, it still states that mission is still incomplete and I am out of Torpedoes. Happy Hunting!

You will get new objectives when you radio in that you have completed old ones. You have no torps left so head for home You may get a repeat mission for the one you did not complete.

Nice hunting by the way ^^^^

When the order comes to engage enemy merchant shipping, even sinking the Yamato will not make it complete. You need to sink at least 10000 tons of merchant shipping. In your list I can only assume that 2 tankers and the cargo were not 10000 tons. The DD would not even be counted.

Anyway, as RDP suggested, when out of ammo you're out of the fight. You go home or rearm/refuel somewhere.....
