You slammed into the forward deck it looks like. There would have been operating rooms in the stern and center of the ship... with storage of medical supplies forward.

Among the medical supplies was one of the chief anesthetics of the era... Ether.

though ether will put your patient out cold for surgical operations it had one fatal flaw... it was extremely combustible. More than one operating room exploded when only flasks of the liquid anesthetic was exposed to heat or flame taking everyone inside with it resulting in a ban on the substance.

That hospital ship was probably carrying enough vials of ether to take out two or three hospital ships if exposed to explosive conditions.... which it obviously was.

i hope the ship did not contain hundreds of seriously injured German and Italian POWs en route from North Africa... nothing like recently having your legs amputated and finding yourself on a quickly sinking ship well below deck.

Good luck in your future operations herr Kaleun... i would not recommend firing on such ships in the future. The rules are in place because there is no way to tell if medics are treating your own men or not.
Very well put Herr Kaleun

And don't worry about who it was carrying. I sent all those damned Allied bastards to hell, even if they were wounded. And I'd do it again if it weren't for the penalties!! Even if they were for the Reich, they were weak to fall so easily and allow themselves to be taken aboard a hospital ship! They could be interrogated and betray the Reich!
Bloody glad my 84 year old father (ex merchant navy and still alive) aint a subscriber here

Thank God doenitz was sane

Yay. Yippeee skippeee.

I guess the floodlights on the evil hospital ship were dangerous.

Furthermore, the "Enter" key to fire torpedoes in GWX has been disabled since the original release... TO PREVENT ACCIDENTAL firings!!! (Should be "Ctrl+Enter" in clean GWX installation.)

This Emergency Medical Technician is not impressed and has nothing good to say.

Its your game though. Do as you wish. Blow everything up. After all, the explosions are PRETTTTTY!!!!

Just remember you said that when you are trapped in an overturned car with gasoline dripping in your face.

Maybe the emergency workers that show up and crawl in there with you to cut you out should adopt the same attitude instead... and toss in a zippo.

Grow up.

Stealth Hunter. FYI , I was on a patrol and spotted 2 Hospital ships, As i have only been playing SHIII (GWX) for about 4 weeks I wanted to see what would happen if I sunk those 2 Hospital ships.

I saved my game before I attacked cause i had a feeling somthing bad would happen to me when i got back to port.

So.... I sunk both of them . I hit esc and warped back to my base, the next screen i got was DEAD. end of career.

It didnt say how I died but it doesnt take much imagination to figure it out.

So, shoot as many as you wish, but don`t be surprised if your career comes to an abrubt end.

my 2 cents.

Hi FC Raptor... welcome to the Forum.
Thanks for that fine piece of info, since I never knew that sinking hospital ships would cause your career to end. Maybe it was because the renown lost for sinking them was higher than the renown you had available, or something like that. I will give it a try and see if the same happens to me.
