Default Is there a mod to remove the radar wheel handle grip?

I'm referring to the wheel the radar operator would grip to rotate the radar antenna? It's a bloody PITA trying to read the damn bearing with that thing in the way.

Default radar bearing

The bearing shows on the digital dial on the lower left of the radar set. It flashes quickly so it is hard to read.

You mean it shows the range? That's what I see on my set.

I could've sworn there was a mod that removed the wheel grip in the early modding days of SHIII.

*bump*

See in this pic how you can clearly read the bearing on the radar wheel? That's what I'm looking for. I'm running GWX and my view of the bearing readout is obstructed by the wheel grip.

Wouldn't the free roam camera (Shift+F2) help you here? You can get a close up view of most things below deck with that.

Hmmm I get an out of sectors error message whenever I try to travel through the hatch with SHIFT-F2. Plus you can't interact with anything while you're in that view and I'm not aware of any hot keys for rotating the antenna left/right.

Oopps,
Yes, the range. The bearing is on the wheel and almost impossible to read. I am not aware of any mod that removes the wheel.

You won't get 'out of sector' if you go straight through the radio room hatchway on Shift/F2. I use the mouse ( left button depressed) to steer and the arrow keys to move. Sure you'll hit a 'black hole' but if you keep straight on you'll end up next to the radio operator. It's even better with the open hatch mod installed.....you actually get to see where you're going.

If you then go straight to the position where you can see the radio/radar equipment and hit right mouse button you will end up where you originally were, but will have set the shift/f2 position. This will stay constant, and can be returned to from wherever with the key combo...until you use it elsewhere, of course.

Next thing is to go into the radio room yourself...if you weren't already there. Right mouse click on radioman (or press R) to operate equipment. Then Shift/f2 to view what you need to see . With a bit of juggling of mouse and arrow keys you should get a good view of all of the wheel from there. Another right mouse click will take you back to radio room.

That's the theory anyway. Fiddly certainly....but should get easier with use. Must confess that I haven't used radar (never survived long enough to get it ) but I do use shift/f2 for other things, particularly for the attack scope position. Now going up the ladder is one place where you can get 'out of sector' very easily.

Hope this may help in some small way. Not what you wanted I know, but as Irish says, I don't think there is anything else on the market!!
