Well actually this brownish color is only due to the fact the Mk48, exploding under the keel, the shockwave passing through the entire ship once it is broken in two brings a billion debris together with her. If we want to be logical, brownish color should only appear whenever we break the target in two I think

That happens allot, at least after I attacked.
![]() But I did a brief search, and there's actually a mod around that changes the splash (click the image to go to the site}: ![]() The problem is that the download is broken. Who has this mod, or knows where to get it? There's a mod-pack on UBRS from the same author, but it doesn't contain this tweak in particular.

I done that into SH II and SH IV, may be the same files used into SH IV can be used here into SH III.
For SH II i use that real picture above, many time ago. For SH IV i use the same real picture above... But there was 4 files, i made one in green/black, another 2 in white, and the last just like the same colour than above into the real picture. For SH IV i maintain part of the splash in white, as water splash, and made the remaining half in green and black as chemical gases and residuals of the explosion. ![]() You can download the files for SH IV from here, under name : Torpedo Splash FX Stage 7b : http://hosted.filefront.com/Redwine The files are... I'm sorry...
![]() That greenish stuff is not what I'm looking for. A bit overdone in my opinion.

One of those files... is just a crop of the real photo above... You can rename it and use it into one or more locations... ![]() ![]() |

Kaleuns:
Have you taken in account that the brown color is because the ship is loaded with dirt to make it heavier like a real-life loaded ship? This is done in order to see the ship's structural behavior when hit by a torp. That's why the photo shows a lot of brown when the torp explodes. ![]() CapZap

Yes, I (or "we") realize that.
But I've seen many WW2-photographs, showing torpedo-impacts with a whole range of colours and shades in the big splash...allthough the shades were mostly shades of white, grey, and black (due to the black&white photography, which was most common in WW2). Of course, it's the result of where the impact was, and of which substances were present in that area of the ship. But since we can't have a range of splashes, I'm thinking of a compromise.

Or are they chemical residuals from the explosive combustion... ? As Paajtor wrote, into the movies from WW2, we can see lot of black smoke into the splash... of course they are in black and white. Many explosives has colored chemical residuals. Any way... it is a way to give the game a "better" look |
