Yes spending $4,000.00 is one way to improve your frame rates.
Im thinking the OP is looking for ways to improve performance with the rig he currently has. |

Uh, where the heck did you find $2.5K for that rig?
I'm within $10 of $2.5K after the CPU, Video Card, RAM, PSU, and Motherboard. I don't think you're going to be able to pay for the rest of the stuff for $10. ![]() I know prices right now since I just got a computer with similar spec to clayp: Intel QX6800 @ 2.93 Ghz 2 x EVGA 8800 GTX in SLI 4 GB (4 x 1 GB) Corsair DDR2 800 PC2-6400 Asus P5N-E nForce 650i SLI Mobo Creative Labs X-Fi Xtreme Audio Sound Card Tagan 1100 Watt PSU 1 TB (2 x 500 GB SATA II HDDs in RAID 0) 500 GB SATA II Storage HDD 18X Dual Layer DVD/R/RW 16X DVD/R Vista Home Premium CoolerMaster Stacker 830 |

I've got Vista Home Premium 32-Bit for now. I thought about getting 64-bit, but there are still problems with it and I'll upgrade when those get sorted out.
Besides, the computer is still as fast as a cheetah on speed. ![]() |
