In the UK it is only legal with reduced wormwood content. Most of the Absinthe bought over the bar is just cheep oils and not distilled. I have a bottle of clear white Absinthe with full wormwood content in the drinks cabinet waiting for a special occasion.

Absinthe has been made, ahem, illegally in Switzerland until the law was changed in 2005 and is now made in the Val-de-Travers region where it is said to have originated. Never tried it myself.
