Funny, I was watching that today and had to do a double-take when I saw it. Yes, that picture popped into my mind immediately

And just to make the post somewhat more worthwhile...

Here's what I look (and feel) like during most of the school year...

My room, err, command station:

Can anyone identify the ship I'm looking at? :p

A closer picture if you want more clues...

the end, etc.

Here's my bio...

Ian 'Beery' Cooper - Adventurer/Philosopher/Anarchist/Artist/Philanthropist/Old-school Punk/Erudite Autodidact. Sometime sidewalk artist, draughtsman, picture framer. I've sold more paintings than van Gogh ever did in his lifetime.

Born and raised in Sheffield, England.

Claims to fame (in approximate chronological order):

Able to speak in Broad Yorkshire dialect.
Completely evaded the precedent set by my family's strong military background (one veteran of Trafalgar, three veterans of WW1, one of WW2 and one uncle killed in Cyprus).
Engineer/Draughtsman 1979-'84.
Walked and cycled 10,000 miles throughout Europe, 1984-'85.
Cycled over the Pindos, Alps and Pyrenees mountain ranges.
Shot at by Spanish right-wing shotgun-wielding crazies in December 1984.
Evaded Spanish police while trying to steal a concrete sheep from a nativity scene outside Barcelona police station in December 1984.
Travelled with Simon Murphy, the 'Kiwi Living Legend' 1986-'89.
Worked at Salzburg's International Youth Hotel 1987-'89.
Learned to speak fairly good German.
Evaded French police while trying to steal a British flag at a rugby match in Nantes 1988.
Urinated on the Eiffel Tower and the Berlin Wall.
Sold my own paintings 1988-'89.
Proposed to my wife of 17 years after knowing her for only three days.
Award-winning Picture Framer 1990-'97.
Experienced Hurricanes Iniki and Georges.
Experienced the Northridge-Santa Monica earthquake.
Foiled looters during the L.A. 'Rodney King' riots.
Proud member of the 5-mile high club.
Developed Beery Superpatch for Red Baron 3D.
Developed Beery R&R mod for B-17 II - 1998.
Assembled Real U-boat mod for Silent Hunter 3 - 2005.
Assembled Real Fleet Boat mod for Silent Hunter 4 - 2007.
Completely avoided the tendency in my family for the men to be as bald as a coot by age 40.

I currently live near Boston, Massachusetts, with my wife, daughter, two dogs, a guinea pig and an ever-dwindling number of fish.

That is an amazing list Beery!

Just one question: I thought only one Brit has ever joined the 5-mile high club: http://www.everestnews.com/exp2005/alanhinkes2005.htm. Did you do it after him? Or as an American?

Cheers,
David

Yup, there's none of that 'let's tie a plastic bag to the antenna so that we can spot it in the car park' malarkey with a paint job like mine.

Don't know if I've already done this, but hell, I do it anyway.

Name: Jon Olof "Olle" Rickard Hedström Rönn
Age: 16
Sex: Male
Some good things about me: I'm kind (or so I've heard), I'm pretty good at english (I certainly hope so), also pretty good at history.
Some bad things about me: Paranoid to some extent, in beliving that many (if not all) of my mates in school hate/dislike me, not all to bright from time to time, credulous (which is wierd considering I'm paranoid too...),not all to popular amongst girls (belive me, this is really a problem for me, a teenage crush can be very painful...

Here I am:

Well first of all: check my postnumber. I have been here for a while, but I don't think anyone has ever said I was welcome here on the forums, so I say: thank you!

I don't know what to say about the military. I won't go in the navy, that's for damn sure! We can't all be sub skippers now can we? And I bet the training is murder...

And yes, we DO have some beautiful gals over here. But the only ones I find attractive are not blonde, as I've heard we are famous for blond gals up here. No, brown hair and freckles are just the cutest things to see on a gal if you ask me! There is at least two gals I really, really, REALLY fancy now...but oh...the pain....

another bad thing about me...I'm too bloody honest all the time! Never know when to shut up! (as you probably realized by now....)
