You can`t compare.
When a game comes on the market it should be bugfree. It`s always with bugs. But always later comes the patches. Now what happened with SHIV wasn`t nice. It looked like that the game wasn`t tested. In the time of the Commodore c64 and amiga the games came perfect on the market. In that days we never heared of patches.
