Haha, wow, this thread is back up.

I actually borrowed that book from the library again today. I'll post more stories if I come across something interesting (that book is HUGE)

That was a quality story, if only American subs had Japanese torpedoes during the war.

As I read the story I imagined the Japanese on the deck cussing up a storm because they could not find the submarine inside the harbor.

The American fleet submarine may arguably be called the most successful naval weapon of World War II. The aircraft carriers got all the publicity, but it was the submarine fleet that destroyed most of the Japanese merchant fleet, isolating the home islands, crippling Japanese industry, and preventing resupply and reinforcement of Japanese island garrisons.
From America's entry into World War II after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on 7 December 1941, until the Japanese surrender was signed on 2 September 1945, American submarines were responsible for sinking more than half of all Japanese tonnage. This, despite the fact that the submarine forces comprised less than 2% of the Navy, and spent the first 18 months of the war battling the Navy bureaucracy over defective torpedoes.

About that . . . and the Defense of the Philippine Islands. My family is from the Subic Bay/Olongapo area . . . so there are first hand stories of the occupation, and some served in the Philippine Scouts, before, during, and after WWII. And well . . .

I took my first boat, the USS Salmon, up to the Gulf on the Northwest side of Luzon, and sank two transports, back before 1.2 came out . . . and then sailed to the bottom of Bataan Peninsula during early 42 . . . and at Marivanes what do I find, at what was the HQ of the forces on Bataan . . . Japenese Gunboats in dock . . . what's up with that? Another error, that needs to be done in 1.4, more overlays of historic settings?
