Hello i have a few problems with sh3.
For some reson i cannot aply eny patches
from 1.1 to 1.4.
Plus now it says i have a problem with the game and windows
needs to shut it down Evry time i go to start a game.
If enybody could Help me on this i would be gratefull.

Can you provide some details about it? what message you get when trying to patch?
Are you sure you are using the right patch? Notice that here are 4 different versions, 1 for DVD USA, 1 for DVD outside USA, 1 for downloaded version USA and 1 for downloaded version outside USA.

Hello and thank you for the welcome to the forum.
When i try to aply the patch it says :-

c:\program files\ubisoft\silenthunter3\data\menu\de_menu.txt: unknown version.
plus.

I have tried to store the patch in diffrent folders but it will not have it.
You said about the diffrent patches i have downloaded every one, but even then it says the exact same from the europe patch which is my region.
I've even tried the patches. The thing that gets me confused is i bought my game from a store. but there are diffrent types of patchs like the dvd patch and the internet patch.
If you could give me a bit more advice i would be gratful.:hmm:

This is a known problem with an easy fix.

Delete the txt files the patcher is complaining about. They will be restored during patching.

Even worse luck has struck

I took every body's advice.
Also danlisa's advice about taking the data file out, but now it say's
it all over again .
I cut the data file out ,now it say's something about the anim.act: unknown version,
so i tried to take every thing out.
I have made backups of every thing and still it
dawn's on me ,why does'nt my patches work.
It is killing me.

Make sure u got the correct patch version of ur game, EMEA patch is for u.

I have tried to download the emea patch
but still nothing. From the internet patch to the dvd patch.
It still does nothing.

I think I found the answer to your problem. Try the following:
In the directory SilentHunterIII\data\Movies\Intro you will find 2 files. Go there and delete them and give it a try once again.
If this doesn't work, then my advice is to uninstall everything, including remaining filies in the directory (delete), as well as the files that SH3 creates in My Documents (in C: drive).
I would even advice you to run a registry cleaner just to make sure everything related to SH3 has been deleted/erased.
Once you do this, reinstall following this order: install SH3, patch 1.4B and then before installing other mods, delete the files Danlisa and I told you to.
I hope it finally works and in your next post you give us good news.

I see the keenness of people to help by providing bandaid solutions, but let's go back a step.

Did you buy your copy recently? Is it a budget release? If so, then it's already patched to 1.4b, hence the errors you are getting when trying to patch it.

If it's an original v1.0 copy, then don't go deleting files as suggested above (it ALWAYS annoys me when people say "just delete the files and it will be alright") because the errors occur for a REASON. And "bandaids" have a habit of falling off, as you are finding out now. No, what you need to do is ensure that you have the right v1.4b patch for your medium of the game (DVD or download) and for your locale (EMEA or US) - exactly as CapZap mentioned. From what you've stated, it sounds like you need the DVD EMEA version. Install this over a CLEAN install of SH3. Get this right and you'll be error free.

Hello

when every body told me to delete the game and re-install it.
I did and the game work's unlike last time when it shuts off at the start of your career. But now it starts.

But the patch still say's there is a file missing or mission engine.dll: unknown version.But i am not botherd anymore ,my game work's so i will have to settle with the normal game but thank's for the help everyone.
