I voted "No" because I'm not paying between $19.99 and $29.99 for working radar, stopwatch, and imperial measurement system, which should have worked correctly, right out of the box. I had a gut feeling the SH4 release was going to extremely bumpy and I still bought the game as soon as it hit the store shelves knowing full well the state of the game as a first patch had been released that afternoon. It was purchased in good faith that the developers/Ubi would give the game the usual 4-6 month patching cycle.

If I was going to pay anyone for fixes, new content etc.,it would be to the hard working modders! If I got it right, and I think I do,the SH III add on was nothing but mods that were churned out by dedicated modders.I'll be danged if I'll pay Ubi for something that should have been working in the first place.I know nothing about SDK,but if opening it up would give are modders a chance to fix things,it would be nice if Ubi did that so are sim could be fixed up.

I would love to say no... but in the end curiosity would get the best of me, and I would think.. hmmmm.. I could pay 20 bucks to get this game patched up (something people are talking about paying the devs to do anyway) and some extra content... or keep something I paid 50 bucks for shelved because I cant stand the bugs?

Im the reason big companies get away with this.

I voted no.

I'd love to see expansions, but why would I commit to buying them when the core game is broken? That doesn't exactly give me the warm and fuzzies about ongoing support.

I vote no. Far too many gaming companies asside from MMOLG's use this money grab to justify "completing" a game.

How could I or anyone pay for an add-on / patch, when for our buck we already spent did not result in a product received as advertised.

I have over a dozen games that lay on the shelf, incomplete because I refuse to pay for a payed add-on. I bought them cause the box and advertizing stated certain features and capabilities. But fell short of the mark.

Choice titles like: Pacific Storm that now needs Allied expansion. Star Wars Empire at War. etc etc...

On the flip side X3 - The Reunion (space sim) continue "years" after release to put out patches and what could be considered free expansion packs. Such as the latest one that allows you to build your very own Player owned HeadQuarter station. A major add-on. at no cost.

I played SH4 for 2 whole weeks. added patch 2. played 1 more week. and then shelved it waiting for patch 3... but so far to no avail.

I for one am tired of being duped by a management team that sits around an oval table conjuring up ways to milk the buying public for fixes of their unfinished product by financial design.

What can we do about this? Simple. I am no longer going to take part in the fan fair on new games. I will wait 1 or 2 years after the game's original release and by that time the game will sell as a gold edition at a reduced price which will include said expansion pack, patches, mods, and completed game.

I love the game idea SH4 represents, I have followed the series for years. I dream of how it should have been like many others. but there is only so much my imagination can fill in where the game designers fell short. If one must pay for a patch to fix SH4. It will join my growing pile of almost a good game covered in dust. But will be the last one to do so.

No, I'm afraid I would not, either. And for the record I also bought two copies, one for me and one for my little boy on the computer downstairs.

Depends on the content of the extra's, If it's good (extra ships, aircraft, new missions, some more sub's to play with and a few new tweaks and tricks for the boat) you bet!

If it is just a rip off of what some modders here have posted and a fix for known issues, forget it

I'd certainly buy and expansion for SH4 but I won't pay for a patch twice.

(You pay for patches with the initial purchase.)

I would have paid a more premium price for a finished product, that didnt require a patch. i have no qualms about paying $100 for a Finished quality specialized kind of game like a naval simulator, or in depth strategy game. 40 or 50 bucks at generic bargain store is nice, but cheap. look what you get.

No, i owuld not pay for a patch taht they should be giving to the community to complete their product that they charged so much money for in the first place. I would pay for an expansion pack tho, depending on what it was and how much it was

Yes, I would and gladly. Many game developers have released 'upgrades/updates' in this format in the past. I would much rather shell out a few more bucks and be satisfied than plod along with a frustrating game that shows great promise. The bottom line is...there is a bottom line. Game developers must show a profit. I love sims too much to see them die on the vine due to the lack of money. I'll happily pony up if that's what it takes.
