SH4 was just relaese too early and unfinished, just becasue Ubi soft annual results were released 1 months after SH4 was out so the sale of the sim were accounted on the results, the benefits for the ubi stocks owners was good and that all, they were happy.

The games companies are disengaging from PC games (to long to develop, portability is not good to consoles like X360, PS3, etc...) and piracy is to simple for PC games , EA is stopping making PC games and will just developp consoles ones.
At the end we will just have small developpers seeling PC games only by internet like battlefront, SCS or e-sims.

I try to contatct Ubi (I have a good contact here) but at this time no answer to my questions.

...and "something bad" with being abandoned. Gross understatement. A no more patch statement with the current state of the game is traumatic for many. Without patches, GWX would have probably never seen the light of day because a large part of the community would have bailed on a bad base.

...and support with being sensitive to their feelings. Given time and support from the PUBLISHER, I am sure the devs could have kept improving the game. Patting them on the head instead of pointing out problems would have simply short circuited that process.

Maybe if we had sent little love notes over the year while they were coding, 1.0 would have been better, and we would not have had to hurt any feelig with honest reviews.

It is NOT the consumers fault that the producer delivered inferior product and followed it with inferior support. People were being reasonably tolerant and patient with the inferior product, but when the asinine request for us to beg for further support came out, people got angry.

Even if your comments were closer to the truth than they are, why go there now ? Its rather unsporting all things considered. Last thing we need is friendly fire.

I played during the 1.1 patch, then stopped because I didn't want to ruin the game for myself by getting annoyed at bugs, so I haven't been playing much either...

Just one question Dowly, why do not not play the game? What is the top thing that makes you throw it on the shelf?

Currently I play it and simply love it. It took a little more work to get it to run very well. More than most games but once there, it is kick butt. My only glaring concern is the radar that only works depending on the direction you are headed. Really nothing else concerns me at all.

I played it pretty much when I got it, but then I got kind of bored to the whole atmosphere of the Pacific battles and decided to go back to the more dramatic Atlantic. Nothing more, nothing less.

So, when modded for more excitment/drama like SH3 is now, you would play it more often?

I've noticed a couple of times that you're quite happy with SHIV bar tha radar issues. This is great news if you've managed to make it stable, any chance you could list the mods you're using and any "tweaks" required so that all the rest of us might also be able to play the game ?

No, I prefer the dramatic Atlantic battle from the german POV. Knowing that 3/4 of the german uboat men died is enough to give me drama and excitement even in the stock SHIII.

Man, these are completly two different things - the patch issue and something being perfet.
It is just that the company which released the game knows exactly that they released a broken or rather unfinished product. trousers without one sleeve, car without brakes, color TV working only in B&W, a novel with half of the pages missing, a hamburger without meat, . The game isnt even compatibile with its own manual.

one can enjoy it now, 1.2, but it does not mean that it shouldnt be fixed - finished.

It is an ethical conflict for respect for customers. The distance between customers and the service-good provider makes it easy for them to sell unfinished product. If I went to a hairdressed and ordered a trimming and he said after doing half of the job that he is not going to finish it I would be in a better position to smash him in his face than i am now, being totally neglected and insulted by sheer fact that I have to show my interest in the product Ibought being finished or brought to state in which it can be described as "without serous problems".

This is what I heard many an inmate say to excuse their behavior. They would then look at everyone (those who are innocent) as being guilty of something so that justice wasn't served by their incarceration when everyone else was on the street.
No, not everyone is perfect, but everyone shouild be striving towards that goal, otherwise murder and robbery becomes acceptable. This strive towards perfection includes the individuals who make these decisions as to when to release a product. If the product isn't complete and the excuse, "Oh well, nobody's perfect" is used, how far down that road do you really want to go? The question might be asked, will their next sub sim actually include a sub? Don't fret, the mods will fix it.
