Default What happends when files are used for many mods

What happends when the same file is modified in many different mods.

I have noticed that many of the same files are changed, and I get a warning when applied in JSGME.

How do you guys resolve this problem, do the mods have to be applied in a specific order?

Well...the Mod that installs over another Mod and give you a warning in JSGME, will cancel the other out, basically installing only the last one. Normally the "modder" should include a "Readme" with all the code changes, so that you can plug in the code manually. This especialy applies to the "menu_1024_768.ini" But as there are more and more mods coming, conflicts will happen. So please guys, include the changed code in the Readme.

Hmm where to start on a full explanation. The short answer is that any two seperate mods, which both change the same file, are inheirantly incompatible. You cannot run one with the other.

Often changes made in one file, are to effect something somewhere else. As part of an overall "theme". If you really wanted to run two conflicting mods, then you need to find out exactly what was changed in both mods, and then try and combine the two changes into the shared file.

When JSGME says theres a mod conflict, unless your sure you know what the conflicting file does and what it changes, you should automatically assume, NO, do not enable it.

Have anybody made a compilation of the most essential mods. I followed the argument of removing the colliding mods, and now I have a whole bunch that I can't use.

But if anybody has made a compilation of the most essential ones (bugfixes and error corrections) can anybody give me a link?

Thanks in advance

The essential list is subjective. So, basically, you may as well ask "What are you running" ?

I reckon 'essentials' will only be rounded up once we have not so buggy SH4. Maybe, the next patch will go a long way in sorting this out... here's hoping.
