6) Red Sea, close to Riad
Area of Operation: Red Sea, October 1943, Weather: slight breeze, no clouds, Time: afternoon Briefing: Konvoi left the port of Cairo via the Suez channel, with course of Colombo, Sri Lanka. Accompanying the Konvoy is a large amount of combat ships, which are to fight the German and Japanese U-boats as Hunter groups in the Indian Pacific area. The Konvoy is loaded with war goods, which are to be further shipped in Colombo! All U-boats in the Indian ocean were pulled together and stationed themselves in the Red Sea in order to intercept the Konvoy! Main Objective: Sink as much tonnage as possible ************************************************** ************* 7) L&P- near Grönland Area of Operation: North Atlantic Weather: heavy breeze, cloudy, Time: early evening Briefing: The convoy HX-21 starts direction Iceland with final destination Loch Ewe in England. It transports important raw materials for England. Sink as many freighters as möglich Main Objective: attack and sink! ************************************************** ************ 8) L&P- tanker escort TM 1 Area of Operation: Middle AtlantiC, beginning January 1943|| Briefing: U -514 under the command of KL Auffermann sighted on January 3rd 1943 the tanker escort TM1 heading northeast. The cargo is with oil and ammunition to supply the troops in North Africa! Of 9 tankers eight were sunk. A heavy loss for the Allies in Nordafrika Main Objective: sink the tanker Secondary Objective: Sink the merchants |
