two things not "automatic" or dont "stick"
spread angle and detonation method (magnetic vs contact) in sh3 terms. spread angle stays the same as you switch tubes. detonation method has a nasty habit of clicking itself back to the default of "contact/influence". Again I got tired of chasing that nasty habit and leave it on contact/influence with considerable success. The other settings speed and depth do seem to stick. Long story short the spread angle requires a last moment check/set. |

Once you fire some torps you just have to do it again to the newly loaded torpedoes. |

The pistol settings again, have a nasty tendency to reset themselves to default while your not looking. |

To my understanding the way SH4 handles salvos and spreads is exactly how it was on the fleet boats during WW2. They didn't have a salvo tube selection with a gyro offset for the entire salvo like the u-boats did. There was a single gyro offset wheel on the TDC that a crewmember had to change between tubes being fired.
"Fire 1!" *TDC operator changes gyro offset for tube 2* "Fire 2!" *again, TDC operator changes gyro offset for tube 3* "Fire 3!" |
