I'm not sure if I'm seeing things or not but I think the luger photo that was posted has a bent barrel.

I see it too. It could just be barrel distortion from a wide-angle lens on the camera.

I'm not sure, my wikipedia skills are a little grey in this area - it's hard to tell if the reference is to the copying of the machinegun design itself or the magaine drum/box fitting.
