Yeah we are using HL as a meeting place and arranging games from there. I have heard about jiri coment that if he has time and he might put SH4 on HL which I would also chuck money in. Thats why if we all use the free chat in Hyper Lobby he will see this community and want to open SH4 Lobby.

Nothing is better than online gaming, so I think we all need to get together on a chat room and Start blow SH*% up

What do you all think? ...................also anyway for online today?

I'm with SubRoc, I'll be happy to donate funds to get this rolling. Heck, I'll be the contact point if needed (I suspect a n00b in this community offering to provide financial services might be greeted with some suspicion, for which I can't blame you. I'd be equally wary). That is unless a dev-team member or admin here can do this??

If it's acceptable to you folks, I'd be happy to do this. Here's how: There's a "Donations Accepted" link in the 'WW TeamSpeak Server Information' box on my virtual squadron's portal page (2/3 down the left side of the page) that goes to my PayPal account. Be sure to note in the 'Notes' box of the PayPal page that your donation is intended for "SH4 HyperLobby Room" or somethign like that, else you'll be donating to the Wing Walkers' TS server fund. Which will be appreciated too...

I'll check on how much the game costs, plus shipping costs to Eastern Europe (where Jiri lives, I forget which country... Romania?), and report back.

@ Monica Lewinsky (never thought I'd ever address a comment to that name, lol!) : As you can see from the stuff above, I'm in full agreement with you about the necessity of having voice comms available for multiplayer games. I know it doesn't take much to run a TS server locally, but there's always the off chance of the server going down for whatever reason (need that spare comp for something else, etc.).

That's why the Wing Walkers make use of services provided by TS-approved hosting firms. For a nominal fee we get a 50-player server that's never down (the "Sandbox" server, for private squad use) through Online Stomping Grounds and an open server that is hosted for a similar amount through Cyber Squads. I can't tell you how much of a relief it is to *know* our TS service is there any time of the day or night.

Default I'll Throw my hat into this ring as well

I would like to contribute my support by saing that I will contribute 20 smacks as well to the SH4 to Hyper Lobby fund.

I have used Hyper lobby for nearly 7 yrs now since the firt IL2 came out and I find it to be a very stable server for multiplay.
The guy who put this together really knows his stuff, the only problem I can see though is Ubi geting jellous that someone is better at Multiplay interfaces than they are.
Maybe they should pay him.... to do the Multiplay for the games they propose?
I like the Idea and have already told Subroc I would support this project.

Duh... We can knock down two birds with one stone. I assume the "Buy Here, Support SubSim" Amazon link at the top of this page means that a portion of proceeds from that link goes to Subsim.com?? No-brainer then... Buy from that link and have Amazon ship it to Jiri directly.

Umm... maybe. Does Amazon ship over-seas?

Potential problem... We can't find Jiri, he of HyperLobby creation 'fame'.

Subroc did a little snooping and found that Jiri hasn't made any posts on the HL forums since December. Rather unusual, to say the least. I have one inside track I will attempt to use to get Jiri's attention, but I can't offer any guarantees it will work.

I'm keeping on eye on this situation and will react accordingly. I will return all funds to those who have contributed to this project (with an extra buck tossed in to cover the PayPal fees).

All I need from you folks is a timetable. How long should we wait before we put this aside for future reference?

WWSandman,
Repost the donation link for the new folks. I will kick in too - $MONEY$

Playing online without Team Speak is not an option for me. I simply just DON'T join servers or games unless they have it. It is the ONLY way to have MORE fun with a game you love.

I am an main admin on another game that almost requires you to have Team Speak in order to play on our server. Have helped at least 100+ people configure TS or solve problems with their sound card.

Do me a FAVOR. Make it MANDATORY that the TS user must be in the "Push To Talk" mode for transmissions [of voice]. "Voice Activated" Team Speak s-u-c-k-s the big one. No, for the voice activated nOOb users, I don't want to hear you sniff, sneeze, chew on ice cubes, fart, or listen to your TV in the background.

Keep me in the loop sir. Will bend over backwards to help get this going.

Interested in Team Speak? go here:

http://www.goteamspeak.com/

In game text chat is for the NooBs.

Keep me in the loop via PM's or posts - PRETTY please - with ice cream on it.

@ Subroc : Funds received, thank you sir!

~~~
@ Monica
http://www.wingwalkers.org/Forum/portal.php
Scroll down a bit, you'll see a block on the left side with TeamSpeak info and a PayPal Donate button. Click the donate button and you'll be taken to the PayPal page. Be sure to mention SH4 & HyperLobby in the memo.
Or, just log into PayPal and send your donation to this email: monte@smsp.org
It doesn't have to be a significant amount, $5 USD would be fine. Between myself and subroc, we've got enough to get the game purchased. The only thing now is to get a mailing address from Jiri and find out if Amazon will ship the game overseas. I'm sure shipping will be as much (or more) than the cost of the game itself.
~~
@ Monica, #2 : Doesn't it just aggrevate you to hear someone coughing up a lung because they're on vox instead of PTT?
Minor update: I've confirmed that Amazon can send the game to Slovakia, Jiri's home.
Expedited shipping (4-6 days from US to Slovakia) basically doubles the price tag.:p
Remains to be seen if Jiri wants the English language version though...
