Thoughts on 1.2. It's fine for me.

1.3? I need to get more than 3 hours in on 1.2 before considering 1.3

I've heard of guys having all kinds of problems with save games getting corrupted and getting crashes when trying to reload. It's never happened to me, not once in 4 career patrols (knock on wood...) and I save whenever I want - surfaced, submerged, under attack, not under attack. damaged, not damaged, etc. Every time without exception, the saves load perfectly.

(Now, having said that I'm sure I'll get a CTD from now on, every time I try to load a save game :hmm

4 - Message log bug. Having loads of contacts in the log isnt really useful when they are 2 weeks old - better to allow each skipper to clean out the log as they want, or every so often, or best yet both. Otherwise, we are stuck using the workaround mod (Thanks to its builder!). Heck, given the love the community has for this game - I would bet the modder would love to have you include it in the next patch if there is no easy other fix.
You don't need a mod to do that, or even a patch. You can clean out the log totally, any time you want. Just browse to the folder containing your latest saved game, this will be in C:\Documents and Settings\<your user name>\My Documents\SH4\data\cfg\SaveGames\ Once there, delete the file:

SaveData.rmr

That contains all your incoming radio messages. Once you delete it, your log is cleared of incoming messages and will load instantly next time you run SH4.

I would definitely like to see the "dateline bug" fixed. Hmm, I wonder if it's possible to "move" the IDL in a .cfg or .ini file somewhere? Put it a few hundred miles east of Pearl, and maybe the bug would vanish?

I'd also like to see the Shift-F2 key work like it did in 1.1 - that was pretty cool being able to stroll the deck of my target, look over the rail and see the torpedo spread coming in to send my jap ass to hell
