I like to use what is offered up in the generic torpedo/ammo dump.

Don't know about the props, but I"ve had luck breaking ships in half by setting the fish to run a foot or two under the ship (obviously with magnetic detonator). I think the manual suggest 3 feet or so under the keel. Course, that makes it easy to guess wrong and run 'em too deep too.

Well, I finally broke one in half last night.........using the deckgun of all things.

I was panic deckgunning a destroyer while diving and she just blew up and in half.

So now my soul is at peace

I finally got a destroyer, and split it in half. It was mighty impressive. Took only one lucky torpedo. Only problem is the lines that didn't break (easily seen in the 3rd pic)

I love how the Japanese seamen are still manning the depth charge stations as the stern goes down.:rotfl:

I've broken a few in half. Look pretty good but so does watching the decks slowing being washed over until the ship rolls over and slips beneath the ocean.

Love this game.

Broken in backs . Yes

Blown props .. 3 torps all hits into the 180 of a merchant still moving, had a look great big hole, Prop shaft starboard gone starboard props still there and turning rudder still there. And that was with 3 hits all into her 180 from my 0 from about 400mts.. 3 torps exploding into the rudders and props should blow them off, in fact I did a test one in Sub school. Hit the ship on her prop shaft hole above no shaft still had prop turning, fired another it hit several feet forward of where the prop shaft come out of the ship, new hole oild one gone and the prop shaft that was blown away with the 1st torp was back again.

yes I have 3D damage high setting, a torp htting the area of the prop shafts and rudder should damage them (never mind 3 hitting there) and it should have an effect on the sterning of the ship and its speed, it doesn't.

I have had a couple of both. The most recent was a Large modern tanker. Took 5 torps into it but it eventually sank by breaking in half, bow section going down first.

I shot five torps into one of those suckers and she just sat there listing for an hour on fire. I hit her square in the rudder and there was no visible damage, though she stopped moving. I thought maybe it was a fluke but I guess I'm gonna have to go back and sink the thing.

Do a contact detonation at a setting of 7 ( well depending on what the draft is on the ship your targeting ) and do an influence detonation just under the keel. Will snap in two every time. Even got a Heavy cruiser to snap in two, but took 2 contact hits spaced at 4 feet and 7 feet deep ( same hit area )then 2 influence hits at 10 and 14 feet immediately under the previous 2 hits. Popped her open like a sardine can. The stern stayed on surface for a long while, with the engines still churning up, while the bow sank right away.
NOTE: Only way this will work is if you have the mod to have more than one ( 1 ) tube open at a time. As in 1, 2, 3, & 4 tube ( or more ) and fire them as fast as possible using the faster torps last to make up for the time you took to adjust torp depths.
Also seems the crew never leaves the ship via life rafts either. Must kill them all I guess.

P.S. Cant wait to try this with a 6 shot on the Yamato for all you Yamato lovers out there......hehe

I've blown off masts, smoke stacks, AND a bridge! Apparantly you can really do some damage with the modelling and everything.
