Well though i have been on many subs, never served on one. My Dad worked for Electric Boat for a while and designed many of the Life-Safety equipment that r in many modern subs.
He was telling me how he was boarind a US Nuclear Sub at a port in Spain to talk to the Captain and the only ID they required was his Social Security Card. I thought that was a really weird ID u needed to get in to a sub, since ur SSN card is like the easiest form of ID to make. |

Never served on a sub, but when I was in high school our Naval Junior ROTC unit took a trip to Jacksonville, FL and Kings Bay, GA. At Kings Bay we got to take a tour of the USS Kentucky SSBN-737.
Already had a bit of a love for subs/U-boats back then before that trip, but that trip definitely fueled that love a lot more. Last edited by Genferret; 04-15-07 at 10:37 PM. |
