And I like to add I dont like the damage screen of sh4.I like the damage screen of sh3.I like the break down inside view of side, and wish for top view as well. Sorry guys, I like a lot of eye candy for my sub. It is a wish to me, It what makes the game fun to play. And what happen to the fire gage?

Default AI Japanese Subs

There are already two Japanese subs in SHIV - a midget sub and the I-400 (Sen-Toku) classes.

Actually, the main issue is developing correct AI behaviour; firing torpedoes, diving, surfacing, etc. As far as I know, no one has accomplished this yet (I'm pretty sure the AI routines are hardcoded both in SHIII and SHIV). Someone could still make an AI sub models which would travel on the surface as a regular surface ship though, or even at a submerged depth (this has been done in SHIII, often by Sergbuto). It's not quite the same though, (but their efforts are still greatly appreciated).

Aircraft torpedos work in SH4 (no idea bout SH3, I don't have it), I tested them. Dunno if you can add them to ships though.

Default Adding weapons

Hmmm you can add any weapons system to any vessel...however Im not sure how the torps would work...I add different weapons and torps to different things all the time in Sh4 to see the modding ability of certain ships. I had 16in guns on a transport...eh worked...but not the way i WANTED...

Well, the TTs that go on ships are the launchers (missing the IJN triple mount). If you put an air torpedo on a DD, would it just sit on the deck? Dunno how that would work.

If it did, I guess you'd clone the air torpedo, and change the clone into a type93 "long lance"

Of course the engagement range for ships would need to be increased.

Theres a lot more to adding torps to ships than that i'm afraid

Still ongoing in SH3 and the process and alterations arent quick
May not ever be sorted over there for ships though aircraft look promising

Of course you have the air drop torps in 4 so that may help speed things along

Yes, the hydrophone (passive SONAR) would be able pick up sound of torpedos, and their aproximate bearing.

However, the movie U-571 is not the best source for real WWII sub operations or capabilities.

Hmmm, SH2 and DC had AI subs that ran on the surface, dove, and fired torpedoes. Even raised their scopes. Surface ships and planes used torpedoes too. :hmm: Sure SH3 and 4 are different engines but why this AI capability was not added, even in the form used in SH2/DC (graphics aside) is a mystery to me.
