I could NOT get the DDs to go after me no matter what unless I gave them a visual. To me, it was unplayable that way so I uninstalled it all and reinstalled again with the 1.1 patch. WHAT A DIFFERENCE !!! Now it plays like it should. I think the first install didn't load right & screwed up the AI. Now the AI is back in full force and giving me a good run for my $$$.... JIM

The only Yamato class actually sunk by a sub was the Shinano. And she went down after three hits. BUT...that was before she was completed and had a full crew that was trained in damage control. I do believe that sinking a Yamato with 2-4 hits sounds rather odd. I think it would cause a list, but that would be more or less all.

One of the tricks all navies pull with signal lights was/is to aim their "carbon-arc" signal lamps at clouds out on the horizon and thereby signal to ships on the other side of the horizon which are out sight. Seeing a cloud light up with a Morse rhythm in the middle of an ocean is like receiving a msg from the maker. Of course, on cloudless days they were SOL.

I saw this subject last night before going on patrol, so I decided to have a go if I could. Roughly halfway through I munched a tanker and a small freighter, and watched the destroyers signalling.
As far as I can tell, the message is looped. You can always tell the gap between the letters, but there is a gap of about 1-2 seconds, roughly every half a minute or so. Turns out i'm hopeless at reading morse but I know the transmission starts with dash dot dot (D) and ends with a dash (E). I'll try and get something else if I can. |

The signalling is actually in engrish and the word "Contact" is repeated with some other stuff mixed in perhaps lat/lon infor or just jibberish.
The word "Contact" though is quite distinct. Its hard (for me) to read flashes of light in lieu of dits and dahs. |

Sunk a New Mexico class (don't ask) with two torps the other day. So I guess it could be possible.

The mark 13 torpedo dropped by aircraft had a warhead only a few pounds lighter than a mk14.
600lbs torpex for the mk13, 643 for the mk14. Mk10 was 497lbs of TNT. |
