I Knew someone would use it! Thanks so much! Sounds like a muscle car!

EDIT - After using it in game, It sounds by ear that the RPM of the engine is to high when traveling at standard or 2/3. Can anyone else compare or find out what RPM the sound file is using compared to the RPM traveled at standard and slower. It sounds like i'm traveling at Full or Flank when im at standard or 2/3

I don't think so. If you listen to the original file, the engine starts, there are three increases in rpm (Probably to get rid of the richer diesel mix required for the start and warm up it to get a constant idle speed) and the it stays at idle speed. That idle speed sound is what has been taken for the mod, so it should be correct. It might be that the game engine changes too much the tone when increasing rpm, but in my PC it sounds well even at flank speed. You can still clearly distinguish at flank the rythmic push/lift of the valves when the cam does its full turn.:hmm:

I tried with a decreased pitch of the sound but didn't like it. Like Hitman said, it is a cutoff from the unedited original sound file.

I did it for my own pleasure at the beginning, but found it suits well into the game so i wanted to share it with other Submarine-simmers.
I will try to get other soundfiles from www.hnsa.org into the game - it's a great site.

Not to nit-pick, but you do know Fairbanks Morse Opposed Piston engines don't have valves right? They just have ports that open when the piston moves back far enough to expose them. The lack of a valvetrain (coupled with forced induction) is what makes these 2-strokes so efficient.

As for the clattering sound, I'm not sure what actually causes it...
