Well, im pleased as punch someone likes my mod. Do check the first post on its thread every couple days or so, as im continually refining it based on what ive experienced in game. (ive yet to get very far in a career before i say, decide i need to make another adjustment, and scrap the current game to do it). Im up to version 1H, and 1i is about a day or two a way. Ill be up to version 2.something in no time.

As for merging mods, *shrug* i dunno. I just do my own thing and don't worry about what others are doing with Sh4. After the experience i had in the mod community in SH3, i decided that im not taking sides in any major supermod team, as their will invariably be some conflict somewhere. IF SH3 modding was any indicator, someone, somewhere, at some time, will start a supermod thats basically as a rebuttle to the first supermod. Im not getting into that, I enjoy neutrality on the mod forum. Right now we have RFB. What will we have as the next contender? I dunno, certainly not mine, i like being a small fish in the big sea, easier to blend in that way.

If appreciating the efforts of the Devs, and loving Naval Sims - no matter how buggy they are upon release, makes me a "Fan Boy"; then I guess I am a Fan Boy - and damn proud of it I might add!

This is a good thread, im glad something positive has come out about SHIV, im yet to receive my game very soon, been coming in here and reading alot of negative stuff about SHIV that at times it makes me wonder is this game going to be total crap.
Maybe some ppl can't believe that sub games do go on after SH3, so they start up the game "Okay wheres the bugs, wheres the bugs! Ahh see I found one! Nope this game is crap" type of response.

Well my fears have been answered this game is going to

Same here. I am having a great time with the game. Last sub sim I had was Aces of the Deep!
This is a long way from the original Silent Hunter from SSI. I remember it took me days to get it installed and running on my mightly 386sx computer, lol.
Yeah it has some bugs, but they are not game killers for me. I'm on my 3rd patrol and just got spotted by the escorts of a convoy I was going to attack. They kept me down for a good three hours. great stuff!

Why, yes! I see the game through rosy colored glasses. But my bunnies are yellow with blue spots.

All the things they did right. It is a good thread for what is great in the game.

This thread is a breath of fresh air. I'm actually glad 1.2 isn't out yet, as if it was, I likely would be spending far too much time on computer games. And I need to finish this damn paper so I can get out of college.

I'm new to the sub sim series with SH4. Not been blinded by SHIII II or I that I can recall.

There are some "oops, that was weird" moments, but for the most part, playing as full real as I can get it and doing the manual TDC as well.

Last night I've just completed my third mission in my third start of a career. I'm no master by any means of the term, but last night we wasted 4 merchants while doing a scounting mission in the Clebes(?) Sea.

I've added a couple mods and some of Ducimis' changes and am having a ball.

All those "anti" guys can go suck eggs.

I'm having a ton of fun so far. The naysayers are really missing out on a lot and patch 1.2 will make things even better!

Got SH4 March 23rd.

Applied the patch: 1.1

and only one mod: ParaB's Less radio message mod.

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=108959

I'm on my 7th mission now and having a great time.

I managed to take damage and crawl home to pearl, took out several ships in 3 convoys and evaded hunting destroyers as they dropped charges. In submerged view I even saw the charges blow up near the sub as they dropped. Amazing stuff.

The sunsets are awsome and the water above the surface is far improved from SH3, even though I dont use the clear water setting.

In my gaming time I usualy jump from game to game.. but since I got SH4, it's the only sim I play these days.

I don't know why so many are bitter about the minor shortfalls in the code. I mean.. Unless one was to join the navy of their country I just cant imagine it looking any more real.

I guess, I too am a fan of SH4, and I see no shame in liking a game I enjoy.
