Yes I have seen pilots:

I have seen them. In fact I posted some screen shots earlier because I was amazed that they were actually swimming. It is pretty cool to watch.

I'm trying to pick up pilots and it's pretty much useless. I submerge and use sonar to see where they should be, then head there on the surface at flank, and they're not there. When I submerge to find them on sonar again, they're just as far away as when I started. I'm almost 90 miles from where the battle occurred and the pilots still keep showing up ahead of me. Each time they're about 4-5 miles ahead, I go there at flank, and they're still 4-5 miles ahead. The game shows smooth seas but acts like there's at least a 20 knot current. If I can't ever catch these guys, I may as well give up and do my assigned mission.
Edit: I'm now over 125 miles from the battle area and same story. Why do the icons on the map say the survivor is "slow" when they're obviously faster than a surfaced boat at flank? Last edited by Tobowsi; 04-02-07 at 10:14 PM. |

I slow down before i get up on them and then stop and surface and 9 out of 10 times they are there, sometimes i surface and i move ahead at 1/3 for a few and stop and then they are there.

I tried that, too. I'd stop completely. I'd drop to 1/3. I eventually caught up with one of them and tried stopping a little past him so the current would have him drift to me. No go. Then of course when I submerged to get sonar contacts, the same guy had passed me and the catch up game started over again.
After 200 miles of chasing these guys with nobody to show for it, I gave up and went on with my mission. I spent at least an entire "game day" looking for these guys. (Wish I got a screenie of that, although I did get one at 125-ish) I still love how they were apparently moving at 20 knots or more (4 nm ahead, go to site of icon at flank on surface, submerge, they're still 4nm ahead) when they're listed as "slow". |
