In terms of being a really-well-tested and improved game, of course SH3+GWX is right now the way to go. But I personally believe that the real choice is more one of theaters than of "games". If you are a fan of Pacific submarine warfare, SH4 is for you....if you prefer the legend and glamour of U-Boots go for Sh3. If you just want to approach the subsims world, any of them will be good for you.

The only thing in Sh4 "better" compared with sh3 are the enviroment graphics ,like transparent water ,and some gameplay details.

the new theater, the scenario, the boats, the new enemy, not are better, are only different compared with sh3.

sh3 and GWX will stay a lot of time in my hard disk until another game or a big mod are released

GWX is very good if you like playing the U boat war in 43 - 44, but I have issues with the 'Happy Time' part of it. I think the destroyers and escorts are just a little to effective early in the war. I don't know, it might be fixed by now!

SH3 + GWX + Wolves at War Online Clan.

Nothing better.

Don't you think its a bit unfair to compare a game that has been patched up and have 2 years worth of mods attached to it, to a game that has only been out for a couple weeks?

Not really.

Discounting the patchable items which will probably exist in any iteration of any game, the developers had those same two years and free access to all the mods to experiment with and even add enhancements to, since all the work was already done by someone else. Additionally they had two years of forum entries to read and get a good handle on what the paying customer wanted or at least, thought. Reading the forum is how mods get built anyway.

Not reinventing the wheel is not rocket science, yet the developers insisted on doing it when time saving information is readily and easily available.

Having said all that, many pitifully obvious items requiring patches were found by the community within days (or less) of its release, through simple gameplay, so no sympathy from me on the patch issue either. I'm a big fan of the SH series having owned them all, but I'm having a hard time working up a lather for the latest release.

I plan to give GWX my full attention since it was just released and I think it's rude to let all that work go to waste.

No, not if you want to play right now.

Anyone still have issues with savegame corruption in SH3? That's why I stopped playing and I'm loathe to even install it again to try GWX unless it got fixed at some point along the way that I didn't notice. I've asked a lot about this but nobody seems to know. I'd save deep in enemy territory surrounded by many ships, submerged, and that would usually greatly increase the odds that my savegame would be corrupt.
