Many sequels are merely improvements built on the previous parts. Medieval 2:Total War still has all the Rome:Total war files in it. Anything related to Roman legions is simply 'disabled'.
But I will say this, last night I fired up SH3 just for a memory refresher. I couldn't believe the difference in the graphics. I love the environmental effects and translucent water of SH4. I like the new Torpedo computer too. Not only will SH4 far exceed SH3, but it will develop and evolve a lot quicker than SH3 did, both for the devs and the modders. I mean this respectfully to all in general, not any one individual, but we should all start seeing this glass as half full, instead of half empty.
