If you think that was annoying you should go talk to some people that had to endure the Silent Service in the the first years of the war.
I think I read somewhere that one boat had a total of one good hit for 70 cumulatively fired? Now THAT is rough. |

I'm just re-reading 'The Golden Horseshoe' after maybe 20 years, a great little book about Otto Kretschmer and U99. What you describe sounds spot on for early war. Must have been frustrating beyond belief. Lucky for us Brits however!
