ASUS A78VX-X EVGA 7800GS CO (AGPx8) 1,5 Gb RAM 333 mhz HD 2 x 80GB 133 Campaign start 1941: Pearl 14-17 FPS bridge (bad! bad!) Navigation 24-26 FPS bridge (is ok for my eyes) all options ON at 1024x768 (vsync on). If I turn them off is the same FPS!! ![]() ![]() I´m thinking in get a new mother and Core 2 Duo E6600 but reading this one: Quote:

Surely I should be getting better frame rates than this.
Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 CPU 3Gb RAM 512Mb ATI X1650SE graphics card ATI Catalyst 7.2 video driver Windows Vista 1024x768 res All settings at max, except EE off and glare off. I manage to scrape 26 FPS down below in the control room, but if I go onto the deck, this drops to a measley 12 FPS, which frankly, is unplayable. Is my graphics card the problem ? Is it really that bad, or is something else causing the lousy performance. I sit here in awe of all you people getting 60-100 FPS on what appears to be a PC not light years ahead of what I am using. Cheers, Kevin. |

The E6600 is the best cpu on the market at its price IMHO (and others) and I regard my graphics card as the weak link in my system but I'm waiting for the DX10 cards to come down in price a bit. |

The 320Mb GTS can be had for about £190, which is actually a good price for the performance, and should certainly perk up my framerate a tad. Kevin. |

I've got a pretty old system here but runs SH4 OK...
CPU - AMD Athlon XP 3200+, 2.2ghz RAM - Corsair Value Select 2x 512mb, PC2700, 333mhz GPU - Ati Radeon X1650PRO 512mb AGP OS - Win XP Pro Ive got everything on apart from environmental effects because it absolutely kills my system, which is cool because been able to see your sub just under the water line at p.depth is pretty sweet. I'm getting roughly 24fps, drops a tad in harbour but not much (I've only done 1 patrol though so not sure, havent been to big ports like Pearl yet...) |

Well, it appears to me that having a Core 2 Duo chip (especially one of the slower ones) has no real advantage.
I have just installed this on my "general purpose" PC and it runs so much better. As a comparison, the specs are: Game PC Core 2 Duo E6300 3Gb RAM 512Mb ATI X1650SE graphics ATI Catalyst 7.2 Vista drivers Windows Vista On deck with everything maxed, and Post Process, Full Screen Glare, Light Shaft & EE all off, everything else selected, I get 24FPS on deck. General Purpose PC AMD Athlon 64 3700+ CPU 2Gb RAM ATI X850SE 256Mb graphics Warcat 7.1 optimised XP video driver Windows XP On deck I get 42FPS (with exactly the same settings as above) and everything is as smooth as silk. With every option selected, the framerate drops to 26 (still playable) compared to 12 on my Games PC. I guess I know which of my PCs I will be playing this on then !! Kevin. |

See sig for system specs.....
Game loads in about 5 secs......saved games take about the same time. FPS is constant at 60 (v-sync forced) with maxed settings except in some odd instance (bug) thats been reported when an artifact brings the gfx to a halt. can't wait till they fix the resolution & fsaa issues.

Intel P4 3.0
2gig Corsair DDR400 115G SATA HD ATI X800pro AGP Onboard sound (SoundMax) WinXP SP2 & current 1024x768x75 "Medium" settings I average about 30 to 60 fps depending on view. Long pauses when pulling up clipboard toward end of long patrol with only minor pauses (stutters) here and there. All in all it runs pretty smooth and looks pretty good. I tried "Evironment On" setting but this created not so good graphic anamolies and bad fps loss for me so I turned it off. |

My Specs but i'm hoping to upgrade soon, this game sure makes my rig work it's elderly little butt off. Anyway:
Athlon A64 3000+ ( old one, Newcastle? ) ASUS K8VSE DX mobo 1GB Ram Radeon 9800pro 128mb Creative Audigy 2 ZS. Performance: With the gfx settings down a fair bit i can get 20-25fps usually, mouse lags a tad but the real fun comes when i launch a Torpedo and the "EventCam" appears i then get a whopping 6-8fps. ![]() Just as well that I spend most of my time in the nav/map screen where i get 70-200fps. It's not so bad, i sank the Yamato last night so the game is playable. I just don't fancy getting into a big engagement and waiting a week for the outcome! ![]() |
