[REL] Gato Ss-272 Redfin Skin

GATO REDFIN SS-272 Skin for SH4
Made by Captain Cox
Quote:
SHIV Balao Hi-Res RED FIN and REDFIN SHARK MOUTH ONLY weathered Submarine by FooFighters and Boris. Graphics by CAPTAIN COX

Did this as per request, all creds to FooFighters and Boris
as I had done the "LO-RES" RED FIN before this was more of a porting job.

Thanks for downloading our Balao RED FIN weathered skin.
if there are any problems please let me know.

Install ready for JSGME
or manual Installation
put the NSS_BalaoT01.DDS files in the submarine/Balao directory
The NSS_BalaoTowerT01.DDS files goes in the Data/Textures/Tnormal/Tex

Have fun..

Gato 43-45

As you can see the Bow-Planes are RED!, keep on reading and you will see why.

Tuned the hull color to a lighter gray and less weathering.

Gato 42

Lighter Gray and less weathering

As for the Bow-Planes....check this out!

Not bad hey! but hang on...check this :p

weird hu!...Don't know why, but the skin don't map mirrored, no idea as how to fix that!. So I did a compromise with the Red Bow-Planes,
I know its not 100% but believe me if i could I would have done it proper, hope that's OK.

This is a graphic skin mod for the GATO Class Submarine in SH4
Its based on photos of the SS-272 Redfin.

For reference see:
http://www.navsource.org/archives/08/08272.htm

This Mod contains 2 skins, one for the earlier version of the Gato 1942.
And one for the later version 1943-45

Install:
Simply use with JSGME
If you don't have it get it here:

Looks great! Though I see what you mean about the bow planes: "Redfin" indeed!

Yup I will look in the morn...time for bed here. But what beats me is that they used such a big area for the emblems and stuff...tha Japs must have been able to see that from miles!, but again all boats had to remove this stuff by end of 44-45.

Hot damn, this looks evil! When I pick up SH4 this afternoon, this'll probably be one of the first things I'll download and use.

EDIT: OK fixed and uploaded! Not much but I thought the belly of the 42 version looked to light so I made it a bit darker.

is it even looking in the right folder ? its not like it asked me where SHIV is

Best is to run the JGSME (install).exe from INSIDE the SH4 main folder. It should create a folder called "MODS"

(in my case it does not, maybe because of VISTA, had to create a folder manually and name it "MODS")

Then you simply dump what ever mod you want in that folder

( I will say this cause some ppl have not done this right...UNRAR!!! the mod 1st on the desktop or whatever)

Double check by clicking the Main Mod Folder in the mod and see if the next folder is called "DATA" then its OK, drag the Main Mod Folder to the "MODS" folder inside SH4 and activte with the JSGME.exe.

The rest is pretty self explanatory.
