It wasn't Wake, I got my bearings mixed up. It was actually south of Tokyo.

Not worth crying over, but I ran across a huge Jap task force consisting of two battleships, 4 fleet carriers and a whole pile of destroyers. Of course I wasn't in position to intercept them while they were cruising along at 26 knots.

Default Just Speculating...

Could it be that major fleet movements are modeled in the game so that you WILL meet them at historically accurate places and times....:hmm:

If so this brings up all kinds of interesting possibilities like you might just happen to be lying in wait in the San Bernardino Straits on a certain night in Oct '44.... or Savo Island in Nov 42 (was it?)

We just may have to hit the history books a little harder and maybe save a fish or three just in case our home bound track puts us in a position to score a big one for the home team!

i encountered a gargantuan task force of my own.
popped the scope up and couldnt see anything but waves so i surfaced
if i strained my eyes through the rain i could just make out the bit of metal infront of me i couldnt even see the front of the sub.

so i know your pain

I remember running into two large convoys on my way back to Pearl after my first patrol... No torpedoes to shoot.

Happens to us all.

Since a good part of the code comes from SH3, the same rules must apply.
Most of the time you encounter these big targets :

1. If you are out of torpedoes going back home (and it's not advisable to engage them with the deck gun)

2. If not out of torpedoes you have all the rain in the sky falling on you, howling winds and you can barely see past the bow of your sub.
