How to fix illegal immigration into the US...And solve the gas crisis

Bush wants us to cut the amount of gas we use. The best way to stop using so much gas is to deport 11million illegal immigrants! That would be 11 million less people using our gas. The price of gas would come down. Bring our troops home from Iraq to guard the borders . When they catch an illegal immigrant crossing the border, hand him a canteen, rifle and some ammo and ship him to Iraq . Tell him if he wants to come to America then he must serve a tour in the military. Give him a soldier's pay while he's there and tax him on it. After his tour, he will be allowed to become a citizen since he defended this country. He will also be registered to be taxed and be a legal patriot. This option will probably deter illegal immigration and provide a solution for the troops in Iraq and the aliens trying to make a better life for themselves. If they refuse to serve, ship them to Iraq anyway, without the canteen, rifle or ammo. Problem solved.

In my mind, any man willing to stand up and fight for our country should be allowed to enter (as long as they don't have a hidden agenda). If they don't want to fight for the country and its values, why would you want them in the first place?

you know, you don't have to pick up a gun and a hand grenade in order to fight for your country. Not all warriors wear fatigues.

Also the US could try making thier cars more economical instead of the usual gas guzzlers. I think that would do a lot more for fuel problems than kicking out illegal immigrants. I fail to see how kicking out 11 million illegal immigrants will solve the gas problems. Sounds to me like an excuse to drop the hammer on the illegal immigrants. Pity Tony Blair wouldn't do the same for us!

Hmm - Illegally in the country, and they should be allowed to stay why exactly?

ANd don't even get me started on alternative fuel sources. Nickel Metal Hydrid plants destroy the environment way more than the tiny amount of fuel they save - you should see the one in Canada - Everything is dead around it for miles. It takes 3 gallons of gas to make one gallon of ethenol - thats energy savings for you. Bio Diesel requires Palm oil in its production, so now we have Indonisia tearing down all their forests at alarming rate to boost palm production - just great.

Almost any technology besides Hydrogen is harmful to the environment.

PS. Incase you didn't know, it is impossible to sell an SUV over here now, so don't say anything about getting rid of SUV's.

PPS. We still live in a violent world, and yes, picking up a gun and putting ones self in harms way is the ultimate show of how you feel about your country or intended country.

I never said they should be allowed to stay so I don't know why you asked me that question. I suggested that Bush was taking a shortcut, saying if I get rid of immigrants the gas problem will be solved which makes no sense to me at all.

So why can't cars be hydrogen powered? Use that instead. Also bear in mind, if Japan and Germany were able to make fuel from means other than oil why can't it be done today? The technology and knowhow must exist.

P.S I have not got any issue with "SUV's" because they are a prime and easy target for motoring lobbies, if they have to go, then its only fair all the other vehicles which are a threat to road safety and the enviroment go to, like vans, lorries, luxury saloons, ridiculously fast sport cars etc etc..

PPS. Have you ever been charged with assault? Because you seem like the sort who would throw a punch and ask questions later. Its kind of regretful in a way that you feel in order to show ones bravery or loyalty to their country is through military means only.

Because you made this statement:

The point is, they all drive! That's a pretty hefty percentage!

Hydrogen takes a tremendous amount of electricity simply to create from water. Iceland may be on to something, but so far I think it is still out of reach.

THe funny thing is, the ridiculously fast sports cars typically get some of the better gas mileage! My main car gets 30 MPG, so I am not part of the problem either.

The gas problem isn't necessarily going to help with the deportation of illegal immigrants (thinking of the gas needed to deport them here), but doing so will be offset by the reduction in costs of healthcare, uninsured insurance rates will virtually dissapear, and we only keep the immigrants that actually want to stay here legally and fight for our nation to prove their desire.

Not that it will ever happen since every sewer-roaming politician in the U.S. wants the illegals to vote for them.

It was not my intention to offend you, and so I humbly apologise for that. But It is the truth, you can be rather gruff, and you seem to think that waving a gun about and using force is the best way to handle things. Which I find a bit intimidating if I am honest, because the way you word posts to me, I dunno... I feel a bit inadaquate and cheap. Or maybe I am just being paranoid? If they are illegal immigrants, chances are they have fake names, fake ids and are working for cash in hand, they probably can barely even afford a gallon of petrol for a car, much less the car itself! So how is turfing out illegal immigrants going to solve a gas problem? really?

Unless wages in the US really are that good for even the most menial cash in hand jobs? I'm just saying to me, turf out the immigrants if you want, but looks like Bush is just using that as a quick solution, and I fail to see how it will be that effective, even if every sinlge one of the 11 million immigrants drove and owned a car, compare 11 million to the total US population which must be upward of 300 million at least. How is that going to make any kind of dent in the gas problem?

Very funny, forced military service deters immigration, providing a "solution" for the soldiers in Iraq. This suffers the same problem as the "cut gas usage by cutting gas prices" idea.
Military service doesn't always mean defending your country, Iraw seems to be a matter of opinion rather than consensus.
