certainly not that i have anything against everybody's favorite onkel or his apparent family clock business, but i did feel that i wanted something a little more historical for the chronometer (based on this ==> http://www.chronometer.net/hamilton.htm), so here's a new clock.dds.
backup you're old clock.dds in \data\menu\gui first and then replace it with this one ==> http://rapidshare.com/files/22030472/Clock.dds.html ![]() cheers hc edit: updated bad link to hamilton chronos Last edited by castorp345; 04-06-07 at 09:14 PM. |

I for one will carry the Neal Steven's brand (TM) chronometer proudly with me to my incompetence garnered underwater grave.

I bet if the Subsim community put her shoulders behind it some chrono company could actually be talked into making them! ![]()

Only slightly OT, since it does relate to the chrono - regardless of which chrono graphic you use, is the chrono draggable/place-able on multiple screens in SH4 like it was modded to be in SH3? I always considered that to be one of the top "really useful" mods for SH3 so I hope they built this into SH4 or that someone will be able to mod it in again (my copy hasn't arrived yet, so hope is all I have right now

I'm obviously confused, but in looking at both this alternative chrono and the one from the stock game (at least I assume it is from the screenshot I saw posted - my copy of SH4 is still in transit
![]() ![]() Unfortunately, that was from an eBay auction and I haven't been able to locate a definitive picture of a US Navy submarine chrono to confirm so I don't know what is correct here, but I'm having trouble figuring out how the game's version or the alternative version in the first post of this thread would actually work well as a stop watch for these purposes. :hmm: Anyone who knows care to try to dispel my confusion?

You are correct. In game it functions as both a clock and a stopwatch when you click to start it, so you could call it a clockwatch or stopclock.

I guess I'll just have to wait till my copy of the game gets here to see how this thing works in action - looking at the way the hands are arranged in the pictures I can't figure out how, on the one in game, you'd really be able to tell easily that (for example) 1 minute 37 seconds had elapsed. On the one I pictured in the post above, it's really easy to tell that (since the big hand is showing elapsed seconds and the little hand is showing elapsed minutes), but on the in-game style one I can see where the little tiny hand in the bottom circle could show elapsed seconds but I don't see what shows elapsed minutes - could it be the red needle somehow? The way it's shown on the in-game style watch I can't figure out how the red one would show anything useful.
Also, I guess I'll have to plan all my attacks near the top of the hour and between 9 and 3, so the big clock hands will be out of the way and I can actually see the little needles in the bottom circle. I have a feeling that one of my first mods may have to be replacing the standard chrono with a souvenier U-bootwaffe-issue stopwatch that I got while serving with our Naval Attache in Berlin before the war started ![]()
