3.4.6 Resupply in patrol
The resupply feature in mid ocean is not available for this installment.
This issue will be addressed in further patches.
You should always pay attention to your diesel fuel and try to avoid remaining out of fuel in mid ocean, and you can opt to refuel at forward bases.

Does it mean that the game will send you on insanely long patrols allthough you can't go there without refueling at sea? If that's the case you could not complete these missions and that would truly suck!

Did American submarines even refuel at sea? I know about the U-tankers and such, but I know nothing of whether this was done in the PTO.

Don't know if it was done in RL but if the devs wanted to implement that feature I want to be able to use it. I don't want to be sent to some place far far away without having the chance to get back to my homebase.

I don't think they did. Boats from Pearl would top up fuel at Midway; boats from Perth/Fremantle would top up at (Exmouth Gulf?) - anyway somewhere along the NW coast of Western Australia - but afaik there were no "milkcows".
