I was going slow, maybe 2 or 3 knots. So you have to go > 3 knots to go below 100m? That doesn't sound like a good idea when you are trying to avoid a tin can. I'll have to check out the manual see if I can find what you refer.

I think the behaviour that jimbuna is referring to is this:
If you have damage and have water coming in, you will be restricted to shallower depths. Why? Water pressure. Water pressure increases with depth. If you have a little bit of water coming in at 50m, you will have a lot of water coming in at 150m. So you have to get creative and really work the damage control crew. Also, as I found out a few days ago, if you are using SH3Commander and have malfunctions turned on, one of the possible results is "diving inefficiency". Good luck!

I have noticed some things like this with GXW, but I've only been using it for a few days, so I am not the correct person to try and tell you what is goign on. I only mentioned the water pressure thing becasue it seemed to fit the (misunderstood) facts.

Most people are aware that at low speeds like 1-2 knots and near the surface, your subs actual depth will be a couple of meters higher than ordered. However, at low speed and deeper depths (like the 100 or so meters you mentioned) the difference between ordered depth and actual depth can be 20 or 30 meters (EX. You order 100 meters, but sub never goes below 80). Both of these are the result of the positive buoyancy feature. I believe the GWX team (Rubini) is aware of the problem at deeper depths and working on a remedy.

There is a little mod for restore neutral buoiancy in GWX
