For the record I have had a lot of crashing problems with 1.02, I am going to reinstall GWX tonight and test without the 1.02 patch to compare and see what happens.

Would like to see your results scalelokt.

Yours are CTD's right? I don't seem to get that, just locks which I'm going to explore tonight and try the F12 trick if a lock occurs.

Good luck with yours!

Yep mine are CTD as well. I havent figured out if its 1.02 or its just a coincidence that it started around that time and there is actually a hardware problem. I will let you know what I find out. Thanks

Well I did some testing last night and early this morning and so far it does look like patch 1.2 is causing my problems. I'd say I'm about 90% sure at this point. Some trial and error has shown that I get no crashes when using GWX on XP or Vista. However after installing 1.2 I get crashes on both XP and Vista. There is definitly something about my computer that 1.2 doesnt like, because most of you seem to be having no problems. So this morning I played GWX without the 1.2 patch for hours with smooth sailing. I guess I'll stick with that until there is another patch or some kind of work around is found. Just wanted to let you all know, here's hoping you all dont experience these problems.

GWX Patch 1.02 was a fix patch - the changes were minor and should not cause CTDs when installed OVER A CLEAN COPY OF GWX (as many players will attest).

If you experience CTDs after installing GWX Patch 1.02, then there are two likely causes:

- you are attempting to load a pre-1.02 career which is simply not compatible with GWX 1.02

- your "base" GWX install was not "clean". Whilst the installer picks up numerous issues, it is impossible for it to pick them all up (just have a look at some of the posts on this forum - if the base GWX install could be stuffed up, it has been in what appears to be every way imaginable).

Thus, the QUICKEST and EASIEST way to move forward is to FULLY REINSTALL SH3 from scratch. That is, roll back SH3Cmdr (if in use), uninstall SH3, DELETE ALL REMAINING SH3 files and folders, and reinstall from scratch, patching to v1.4b before installing GWX and then GWX Patch 1.02.

If your CTDs suddenly disappear, then you know what, or more to the point, who, caused it. If they persist, then alternate causes can be pursued.

On this forum somewhere is a post by me, and there are similar posts by others, advising how to install GWX so that you have a "playing" copy, and a "clean" copy. For there will be more GWX patches (we are working on one now), so prevention is better than cure.

Thanks for the feedback! I'm by no means a computer expert, anytime there is a problem I have to resort strictly to trial and error to find the cause. It seems that with 1.2 I am crashing and with regular GWX I'm not, however if you feel certain that 1.2 isnt causing this then I'll take your word for it. When I reinstalled SH3 it was definitly a clean reinstall, I uninstalled SH3, deleted the folder on the hard drive, the save games, all the mods, everything. So I dont think that would be the cause. However I will keep trying different things and I'll definitly let you all know when I get it figured out just in case any of you have the same problems as me. Thanks again for the feedback, dont think I've ever seen a forum with so many friendly and helpful people!

Can I just seek some clarification here, I'm currently in mid-patrol and therefore have not yet applied patch 1.02. When I get back to port I intend to install it. Will this break my current career? I thought we could install 1.02 whilst in port without any side effects.
