GHG or KDB ?

I've tended to always steer clear of the KDB because of the description that it breaks easily. I've recently tried upgrading to it, but managed to avoid any serious D/C attacks so far, so it's untested. Just how easily is it likely to break? Will it break before anything else, or is it at just risk when other damage is being incurred? Obviously it's a critical piece of kit, so I'd like to avoid losing it...

It's not that breakable as in the description. You need a pretty close hit to have it damaged or even destroyed and by then a broken hydro is probably your lowest concern...

When you get the KDB you do not lose the GHG. They are both there.

GHG has about a 20 degree blind zone in front of the sub and about a 60 degree blind zone in the rear. KDB eliminates the front blind zone and reduces the rear one to about 40 degrees.

Darn shame that manually using the hydrophones gives you a fully functional 360 degree listening area.

I think the limit is not a hard one, the hydro rotates 360º, the blind (should be deaf) spot it's because of your own propellers noise.
